Just found out my HSA will pay for a heart rate monitor so my budget just increased. I need some suggestions for a good HRM. Could you also let me know how much you paid and where you purchased please? Also let me know pros & cons for any HRM you have owned. I really want to make sure I make a good purchase with this, all the while spending the least amount possible. THANKS!!!

Polar ft4. I got mine at Scheele's Sporting Goods. I'm sure you can get them cheaper online, but since I really didn't know anything about them, I needed advice. At first I hated it! The chest strap is sort of a hassle and it showed I was burning a lot less calories than I thought, but my losses have been up. And I'm working out harder so using one is a must as far as I'm concerned! I paid $99, but I think they're about $70 online.0

I love my Polar FT60, but I would definitely read this blog entry before making a purchase..

I'm with Linda. I love my Polar FT4! But I haven't had any problems with the strap. I found the strap to be very comfortable and moves with your body. I wear it right under my sports bra, and it feels like the bottom band of my sports bra, so I really don't notice it.
I love that it calculates my calories burned based on my weight, height, age right down to the day, and my sex. It also figures up your heart rate weight loss zone, which you can adjust if you want to. During your workout, your HRM will beep to let you know you are now in the weight loss zone and it will alert you if you fell out of the zone so you can slow down or speed up. It also keeps track of all of your past workouts, so you can go back and look at them all. It also totals all of your calories burned from all of your workouts if you interested in knowing. It also lights up if you need to see it in the dark.0 -
I have a Polar RS300 and I got it on Ebay for around 60 bucks. Keep an eye on Ebay, I found one that had never been used.
