Last octover when i decided to get fit, the only thing i changed was to start running. I figured that if i eat what im eating now but increase exercise i would lose weight right? sounded logical. well it did to some extent but not really. but thats another story.
my goal is to be able to do a 12 km (7.5miles) race by september in 75 minutes. my plan was to start at 3km and work my way up.
my first time out it took me about 27 minutes to do those 3km, i had to walk every 500m or so and couldnt move when i finished, the next day i could barely walk.
since then i have succeeded in two goals. first was that i ran the whole 3km without walking. however the time was still around the 24 minute mark and a lot of the running at the end was actually slower than my walking pace (i was just determined to "run" the whole way) and last week i did my best time of 19:50 but i still walked a hundred metres or so in the middle.
last night was a big success. I did the 3km in 20:25 which is a time im happy with (anything under 7min per km im happy with) but i ran it the whole way at a good pace, no slow shuffling, a proper run. So needless to say i was pretty happy. Now to move to my goal of 18minutes then i start working on 5km.

I just ran 6 miles today. I love the accomplishment I feel when I run. Last year I was running but wasn't watching my diet and actually gained weight. I'm 20 pounds down from last year and what a difference that makes. I'm using this site to watch the calories and running a few times a week and I can feel myself getting stronger and stronger. I have a 1/2 marathon on the first weekend of May. My goal is to get at least another 15 pounds off by then. I know that is going to have a huge impact on my time. The hills were what would kill my time in the past. With trying to lug that extra weight up a hill it definitely slowed me down.
Good luck to you.0
