Did anyone see Heavy last night? That show and I Used To Be Fat are what motivated me to start changing my life. Maybe it's shallow, but it's true. I decided I was willing to pay a trainer for 3-4 months to help me get in shape and it would still be cheaper than surgery.

Anyway, there were two episodes; one with a 19 year-old kid and a mom who couldn't get pregnant, and another one with the virgin and the coach who lost 200# in 6 months. Both were awesome. It's the only good thing on TV right now, IMHO.:ohwell:

    I haven't seen last night's episode but I have seen the others...

    Which system do you prefer? The 30 days and then 5 months at home or the full 6 months at the facility?
  • I love that show...I watch it every Monday night. Great motivation and inspiration. :-)

    I wanted to smack her when she was huffing out of the room screaming "It's just peanut butter!".

    That's the first one I've seen where they spend the whole 6 months at a facility. I like when they go home and have to face reality. I go through that a couple times a week with family and friends right now.

    That coach losing 180 pounds takes away any excuse I've ever had.

    @elfie: yea, what denial!

    In case you wonder weather losing 1 pound a day is healthy and worth the risk, here's a pic of one pound of fat. Imagine losing one or two of these a week. I'm very satisfied with that. And it's healthy and permanent.

  • WOW. Thats the first time I have watched that show. I dont have cable, so I just watched the John/Jill episode. I cried though several parts. If I could afford to go away for 6 months I so would do it. But I would lose my house. But its still great motivation.

    Thanks for sharing the link.

    I really like Heavy. I prefer the ones where they are only there for a month and then have to go home and do it on their own. Not many people could stay at a place like that for 6 months. I think people be able to do it at home is much more motivational.

    HEAVY motivated me to hire a personal trainer. He was $500 for the first month, then $650. I found www.344pounds.com the day after I wrote him a check. That led me to this site and I plan to stay on this and cancel my trainer. He's okay, but that whole business is a money trench full of thieves and pimps. The average person on this site knows 3x what these personal trainers know, that's a fact.

    holy moly that's a lot for a trainer? dis he live with you? lol my trainer is only 45 bucks and hour.... lol... if you still want a few sessions see if there is a gym near you that offers one on one time with a trainer. my gym does and it's maybe 40 bucks.

    That's about right. 45 x 3 times a week x 4 = 540. I talked to a lot of trainers and some of them didn't know what I meant by "interval." That's how it is. The one I hired has a masters in kinesiology and dietetics. It's worth it for a month or two, if you can, just to get some tools and accountability.

    Apparently when its spread out, it doesn't seem as much. I need to read better or take some more math classes. Sorry!

    I do love my trainer though and will say she is worth all the money I am spending. I am just that kind of person who needed a third party to walk me through working out. I can read and read and read all day long and completely understand why I should be doing xyz and eating xyz but I just can't get it through my brain that I should be doing it. Plus, for me, since I am slightly a social being, its nice to be able to talk to someone once a week about crap in my life and not worry about her babbling to others. I think I got lucky with her. I probably will stick with her through the summer, or at least until I am very close to my goal weight for sure.
