I have the worst posture! I slouch at my desk all day and I have to constantly remind myself to sit up straight.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions to help or any tricks that they learned to help it become more of a habit to sit up sraight???

Thanks!!

Put some sort of bar (or other straight/thin/sturdy object-think broomstick handle size) behind your back and in front of your elbows. Granted, it's hard to work that way because your arms are stuck, but it definitely helps with posture!

Do you have an ergonomics person at work? They may have some tips.

Also, I've heard people say the big giant balls (like the workout balls) are good for posture. I don't know if that's realistic for your work situation but it may help?

When i was younger, my would constantly poke my middle back when i was eating dinner to make my sit up straight. When im sitting down now, i often get reminded of her giving me a push below my shoulders and it remindsme sit up straight!
Try imagine someone is poking you in the middleof your back everytimeyouslouch...or get someone to do it for you haha!

I wish we did! It's a very small office with only 6 people total and we have no specialists!
When I am home, I use one of the big balls to sit on when watching tv or hanging out. I had tried the ball at work but it was too short to sit at my desk! lol

Some people at my office bought workout balls and sit on those at their desk instead of their chair. It helps with your chore muscles, balance and posture. Just don't bounce off of it.

This topic made me sit up straighter in my chair too. I slouch all the time.

Someone needs to invent something to aid with this. I feel like a reverse bra that pulls your shoulders back would be good...maybe there's something like that out there already and I just don't know? I need help here, too :-/

When i was dancing (jazz, ballet, contemporary) i found that i had great posture, now not so much anymore! Maybe try some dance classes if theyre on offer in your area, i know i want to get back into it

After two rounds of pt for my shoulders and another for my mid-back(both posture-related in part) I've discovered that keeping a strong upper body is key. Maybe you could get a personal trainer to teach you some shoulder, upper back, and chest work. Abs too if you don't know how to work them. When I work my upper body, I develop the muscles that tend to want to slouch in me. Also, do make sure you are using good positioning when doing repetitive tasks. I know more people with mousing shoulder injuries. You want that upper arm close to your body, not extended. I now use an ergonomics program on my pc that reminds me to stretch periodically, which also helps.
