Ok so finally my hrm shows up and I'm all excited to use it! I set it all up, hop on the elliptical and start excercising. When finished i compared the elliptical calories burnt to my hrm and wow I was suprised. According to the elliptical in 30 minutes I burnt 314 and my hrm said i burnt 180.25!! What??? Ok i excpected a difference but not that much between the two. Maybe I set up my hrm wrong idk. Maybe the numbers for the hrm are correct? Any thoughts on this?

  • I recently read an article that said only the treadmill is most accurate in calculating your calories burned. I think it said something about the technology not being evolved enough yet for it to correctly predict your burn on ellipticals, bikes, stair climbers, etc. The elliptical was said to be the most generous with your calories burned, so I would go with your HRM. I don't have a HRM though, so you may value a more educated opinion.

Thanks for your reply. After reading your post i did some research on the internet and found that more than likely my hrm is right on.
