Howdy
I'm slightly new to MFP, been using for about 3 weeks now and lost 25lbs. My starting weight was about 450, don't know since my scale didn't go up that high, but with MFP I've been able to keep to a calorie restricted diet.
Looking for a few other MFP pals that are on a similar path, I know how a little support, motivation, or accountability can go along way so add me if you like.

Hi, Great to see you here!!!
I've only got 40 left to lose, but I've lost over 200 along the way. This is a great place for support and motivation. Congratulations on your 25 pound loss!!!!0 -
I had 140 pounds to lose and have lost 73 of them so far. The most important thing to remember is to not get discouraged. The weight comes off fast in the beginning, but then you will have days or weeks where you gain a little or don't lose enough and it can get frustrating. Even if you haven't won the battle for that week, it's winning the war that's important. Good luck!
Protein is your friend. A low calorie diet is fine, but if you aren't getting enough protein then your body will feel hungry and if you feel hungry all the time then it is a lot harder to stay away from the foods you shouldn't eat. Low fat oatmeal, beans and lentils are excellent sources of protein.
PS - The two biggest changes I made were to replace one meal a day with a protein shake, piece of fruit and fat free yogurt (I recommend Stonyfield Farm's Oikos Greek yogurt, it is tasty & high in protein, which is good for you), and to stop eating any prepared foods (things like yogurt, etc. don't count, I'm talking about meals, soups, chili, etc.).0 -
Thanks,
First week was bad from hunger pains but I was able to adjust to about 2200 calories a day, I've been able to adjust down to 1700 and have been able to do that. Though I still crave stuff sometimes
I've cut out soda's and most prepared processed food, been able to supplement my Chinese food addiction with home made sushi, and sodas with green tea.0 -

You and I are going to be good friends. :0) I am in the same boat. More than 200 to lose. And it sounds as if we are addicted to the same things. The Chinese thing is going to be one of my biggest battles. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chinese food. They know my order when I call, they know my drink order at the buffet. I am the major of both of my favorite place on 4Sq, LOL.
We can do this. I got a new scale in the mail today, it goes to 440, but I still received the dreaded -Err- screen. I cant wait to see a number on that screen.
Tonight's dinner was baked Tilapia, Yams, and Rice, all in small portions. No soda for the last few weeks. Soda seems to be easier for me to give up than some of the foods.
Lets stick together and make this happen. Congrats on your first reported loss! Find me on Facebook if you want to be pals, www.Facebook.com/TimKirkwood0 -

You used a curse word in your post! Never use that word again!
Of course I am talking about the word "buffet".
"Buffet" is French for "Do Not Enter!"
"Buffet" is Chinese for "There's poison in the General Tso's Chicken!"
"Buffet" is southern slang for "Our Catfish and our Chicken Fried Steak and will kill you by the time you are 45!"
Please please please clean up your language!0 -

G'day
My Biggest weight was 185kgs 3 years ago (407lbs) I am now 149kgs (324lbs) and want to get to 95kgs (209lbs) so from my original weight I needed to shed 209lbs.....does that count I recently got as low as 129kgs(284lbs) but have put on some weight - obviously.....Just realised though that I have actually lost 37kgs (83lbs) since my heaviest ..cool
Happy to share the journey with you mate!
Cheers0 -
I started (51 days ago!) at 405 and I'm 23lbs down now (382) and on 2000 calories a day. I would stick to what I'm assigned with the MFP goals buuuuut, whe I actually track my food I find it very hard to eat the 2400 calories a day they suggested. I have a hard time with 2000 a lot of days but I try to get as close as I can and a cheese stick is always good for closing that 100calorie gap AND giving me a bit of protien before bed.
Sadly enough I've been this weight before. When I had my son I was right around the same and I got down to 185lbs and looked amazing. The problem was, I had no real self esteem outside of my phyiscal appearance and a few bad comments just ruined it for me. Ah well. live and learn.
I plan on staying at 2000 calories for another 25lbs or so because its a comfortable number and I can really get used to eating like a normal person with it.
I've given myself a goal of 2 years - in 2 years I'd like to be 220lbs lighter (more would be ok too!) than my start weight. If I could lose 2lbs a week consistantly (on average) then I know I'll hit that. Not giving up is the most important part though - I'm no quitter. I've only put off my weight loss this long (my daughter is 2) because I've had 2 back surgeries and 8ish other proceedures on my spine since my baby was born and I've been in intense pain since then daily. I'm learning otherways to quiet my pain besides food now and I'm on a good medicaiton schedule so I can get some relief. Now I can focus on other aspects of my health - even if I have lost a lot of my mobility due to my spinal condition.0 -

Hey bud!! My starting weight was at about 285, and I'm 5'8", I don't feel or look obese, but medically speaking I am. I probably don’t have as much to lose as you, but IT IS STUGGLE. Not only do I use food as an “escape”, but I also use booze, TV, porn, laziness, driving….yes driving too.
I’ve been doing the Supreme 90 Day workout Program (sister to P90X), for 11 days now, and I’ve lost about 8 lbs. Not only do I feel good, I actually look better too. I have better mobility, and I don’t hurt as much. I am a stand up comedian, and I use my weight in my act, I’m going to have to start writing other jokes because I’m not going to be big much longer!!!!
After starting to do this program (which is a butt kicker and suicide mission all in one!!!), I really started to feel better about myself, more confident. I wanted to get up off the couch and do something, I wanted to be a better person, and watching porn wasn’t good for my mindset, and drinking alcohol I didn’t want to do because if would interfere with my progress as far as dietary habits. I have a goal, and I’m seeing results and that makes me want to work even harder. The biggest advice “I” can give for what is REALLY helping me, is….EAT RIGHT, I spend A LOT of time in the kitchen preparing healthy meals. I eat about six times a day with small healthy meals, and that is making a HUGE (no pun intended) difference in my journey.
Just want to say good luck, and you have my support and accountability here with me. You are VERY right getting support is probably the most important thing for a weigh loss goal. Take care bud!!!!0 -
