Setting goals during workouts...

I'm not a runner but had a strong desire to do something different during my workout today and decided to run with a goal of running for 30 minutes straight. Completely running, no walking. I DID IT. But at the end of 30 minutes I had only gone 2.3 miles (I was trying to pace myself because I didn't know if I could do it). So I changed my goal to run 3 miles. I DID IT. It took me 37.47 minutes, but I made it. Point of the story: set goals during your workout and it will make it more interesting. And yes, I've done C2K but my knee wasn't feeling that so I only run every now and then.

That's so true!! Monday I had set a goal to run 1mile without stopping or slowing down. I did that mile and kept on going for 2.35 miles. I was so proud of myself!!

    I use calories as goals.
I wear a HRM and have started to ignore the times on the machines and go with calorie burn.
It usually means I spend more time on the machines but it feels like less somehow.

    I like mini goals. :O)

I usually set goals for my workouts according to time because I use the gym a lot. I usually set them for 30 or 45 min  I find that works best for me rather than distance.
