I have been logging on to mfp for sometime now and tracking what i eat and exercise. I recently had a miscarriage and completely fell off the wagon :-( I really need to lose weight but i am having a very difficult time getting motivated. it is also very hard to work out because I have a 2 year old, I have a treadmill and i dont mind running on it but i cant do it and watch him and cant do it after he goes to bed....i really need some help!! I try to keep my calories at around 1200/day but usually have only around 600-900....im just not very hungry and i am a VERY picky eater. Anyone have any suggestions??? I would like to lose around 40lbs. Thanks :-)

Why can't you do it when he is eating? Try doing 10 minutes several times a day. Also you should never go under 1000 cals a day. Can you take him for a walk?0

Also find friends through here and they help. Feel free to friend me0

try some meal replacements, I'm sure someone here can reccomend some that may taste better than others...also try a Protein shake. I like BSN's Syntha-6 Vanilla Ice Cream flavor. 200 calories with cold water, I'ts so good I consider it a treat.0

I work full time and dont get home around 5 or 530....once it gets nicer outside i will be able to take him for walks but right now its too cold and often rainy :-(0

what about putting on music and dancing around with him, this is good exercise and fun for both of you. I am so sorry to hear about the miscarriage I know it is a rough time, just do your best and dont be to hard on yourself. But exercising will probably make you feel better0

First I think you have to really really want to do this. I know myself that I was not really wanting it for a while so I didn't even try. Second you have got to eat. Your body is going to hold on to all the fat cells because of not eating enough. It's hard and I know it, trust me. Feel free to add me as a friend and we can encourage each other.0

Be sure to give yourself credit for running after a toddler all day (playing at the park, taking him for a short walk, etc). Also, you're probably NOT loosing because you're not eating enough calories. There are all kinds of workouts designed to work for parents AND toddlers, something you can do together, maybe a mommy and me tumble class or something.
What kind of foods do you like? May be re-try foods you didn't like before, taste buds change and you might enjoy new foods you didn't know you liked.
Finally, I hope you are dealing with your loss, I understand how difficult that can be. Be sure you reach out for and accept extra support. Feel free to add me, if you'd like.
Wishing you nothing but the very best and MUCH success! Good luck!0 -
Syntha 6 protein bars are so good and very filling. They have all the nutrients you need for a meal.0

I have a couple clients who are picky eaters, I tell them to do what I do. Find a couple foods that work for your goals and your daily numbers and basically repeat it every day. It takes the thinking out of it. Sure, I know, some people can't live like that - I get it, that's cool, but if you can, eating the same 6-10 meals every meal makes life really easy!0

not sure what rset up is like with family but maybe someone can sit for an hour while you get some YOU time ...just an idea. go for a swim or join a club and get socialising.0

I am sorry about your miscarriage. :-( I have had 2 second trimester losses, so I know all about gaining weight after that! I also have a 2 year old son (he will actually be 3 tomorrow). I take him for walks a lot. I also try to walk at work when I don't have my son just in case I can't get a walk in with him for whatever reason. I try to incorporate him as much as I can in activities. We have a trampoline so we jump on that a lot. You may want to try Protein Shakes if you aren't getting enough calories in (and it doesn't sound like you are). Good luck, and please feel free to friend me if you would like.0

first of all i'm so sorry for your loss, i can't even imagine how difficult that must have been. as for advice, there's little ways you can trick yourself into exercising. i have coworkers and friends who swear by the reebok easytone shoes. they do run a bit narrow though. also, there's ways to work your muscles while you sit, that actually has worked for me. as for getting enough nutrition, i love organic stonyfield farms super smoothies. they are full things that help keep your body regulated. exercise with your 2 year old! that can be some of the best exercise ever, get him rolling a ball to you or lift him up over your head...i also know that there are certain gyms or studios that have places for the children to play while moms work out. feel free to friend me, i need support as well!

So sorry about your miscarriage. I used to dance with my little ones all the time! Then they grew up and we all stopped dancing What other activities does your son enjoy? I'm sure that he barely stops moving. Can you do what he does to keep busy until it's warm and dry outside? ....nerf balls to play catch?0 -
Thank you everyone for your support and advice :-) I havent every written on here before but now I am so glad that I did!! My son and I do a lot together and play and run and everything else, I just feel like I need more than that and for a longer time period of constant moving. I am also working on the couch to 5k...i had started it about 4 weeks ago and then stopped when i got pregnant/miscarried. i am starting again now....i did week 5 day 1 yesterday and actually did the whole thing without stopping!! now i just have to stick with it!!!0
