Avoiding the Before and After Pics…

Wow, I am torn…I should be taking all of these pictures now so I can be the before and after Queen…You know especially knowing I have surgery coming up which is an even bigger tool in “keeping it off”…You know what though…I am so uncomfortable with my current weight even ten pounds down…I am fighting the pictures.

I am hoping that just writing this and getting feedback from all of you will help me motivate to get past my self-esteem issues and “Just do it!”

Can I get some feedback …This really is a dilemma for me…

Thank you all.

Take the pictures now. You can decide later if you wanna post them or not. :flowerforyou:

I took some, not sure if I will post them publically, but they are good for you personally as a reminder of where you don't want to go back to.

i'm sure that once you've lost your weight you'll be thankful you have the old photos so you can show off the difference! it won't be so 'embarassing' once that's not what you look like anymore. and you can post them just for you to see, as a reminder and motivation!

you can always delete them later on if you really hate that they exist..

    congrats on your first 10lbs!!
  • I just looked at some pics today of what I looked like two years ago, not only was I appalled at how disgusting I was, but it showed me how far I had come and how I would do anything NOT to go back there again! DO IT! Just like someone else said, you don't have to post, keep them for yourself!

Just take them! You dont' have to post them right now. Or ever. You don't even have to look at them right now. Put them in a folder on your computer desktop (clearly labeled so you can find them later) and leave them. Then when you want to take after pictures, you'll have them there for comparison.

I was in the same place as you. I absolutely didn't want to take any "before" pictures. Heck, I didn't even want to stand in the bathroom while putting on deodorant because I don't like seeing myself in the mirror. Finally one day after looking at several before/after posts, I decided it would be a good idea. Even if I never show anyone else, I'm hoping that it will help me to see changes in myself better and keep me motivated. I put them on my computer (and turned the monitor so my husband couldn't see them on the screen lol) Then I hid them in a folder in another folder so nobody else accidentally sees them. I took them after I had lost about 5 lbs. already and now I wish I had taken them sooner so I could possibly see more of a change. I agree with sunlovin, take them now and hide them somewhere if you want. Even if you never show anyone else, they may help you see how far you've really come if you need some extra motivation.

(On a side note, I have a picture display on my desktop/sidebar that rotates through all the pictures on my desktop. Every now and then one of the "before" pictures pops up and I have to try to quickly scroll to the next one. But, sometimes it makes me want to get up and workout if I've been putting it off :) )

I took the pics and refused to look at them for a month, this month I wanted to post my halfway progress and almost made it a bulletin post but then decided to blog it instead....less viewers for now, I will post some "good" pics soon lol! Pictures show the results when your mind won't let you see it!!!!!

I was just thinking I wish I had taken some before pics when I first started. I have already lost 8 lbs, out of 17 I want to loose. Maybe its not too late.

Agreeing with the others ~ even if it's just for you, you'll be glad to see the change. I never DREAMED I'd post what I call the worst of my worst, but *gasp* I did. (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/114519-30-pounds-gone-before-current-pics)

However you decide to mark your journey will be right for you; but even if it's just one picture for your own eyes, you'll be glad to be able to see the changes for yourself ~ we can't always see the truth in the mirror...

    Best to you! :flowerforyou:

I agree with this! I dreaded doing mine (in a bikini)... but I know I'll have the confidence to post after I've reached my goal weight. I'll feel great and have a sense of accomplishment.

You should just take em anyway... even if you decide you don't want to post them. Just so you can have motivation to not allow yourself to go back and undo all your hard work. See it as a triumph and use it for motivation!
