Okay....I tried this one today. Its supposed to taste like ranch, but I was missing some ingredients...so I'll list the Original recipe and then my ghetto substitutes. Makes a thick dressing (very similar to ranch dressing consistency)

Making homemade buttermilk w/ skim milk (Not sure how it would work using almond)
1 cup Skim Milk + 1 tbsp vinegar ..... mix. (or you can use 1 tbsp lemon juice instead of vinegar)

Original Ranch Dressing Mix -
1/4 Cup no salt added buttermilk
4 Tablespoons Fat Free Plain Yogurt (Stonyfield Organic Oikos - Plain Greek Yogurt)
2 Tablespoons Lite sour cream (Naturally Yours - Fat Free Sour Cream)
1 Tablespoon Chopped flat leaf parsley
1 Tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon finely minced garlic
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon celery seed
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
dash of dried thyme or dill weed

My Ghetto Mix (but still tasted good...but not as ranchy I would hope)
1/4 Cup no salt added buttermilk
4 Tablespoons Fat Free Plain Yogurt (Stonyfield Organic Oikos - Plain Greek Yogurt)
2 Tablespoons Lite sour cream (Naturally Yours - Fat Free Sour Cream)
1 Tablespoon Chopped flat leaf parsley
1 Tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 Tablespoon Mrs Dash Garlic and Herb Mix
1 tsp French Mustard
1 tsp Substitute salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
dash of dried thyme or dill weed

Makes 2 tbsp servings

This would taste really good with Parmesan cheese (I just had salad w/ the dressing w/ pizza...and it made me think of this lol)

I was searching the internet for a low calorie salad dressing with low sodium when I found that my favorite Hidden Valley Ranch Light has 290 mg sodium per tablespoon! I had been unable to find a salad dressing to buy. I found one on some website and tweaked it to match my taste, I think the site may have had it as a dip-the vinegar thins it . I can hardly believe the stats on it because it is the best dressing I have ever tasted. If you check it out and find that my numbers are off please let me know. I have had this on salad, salmon and plan to use it in a chicken salad.

    Sour Cream & Yogurt Dressing
    2 T Mrs. Dash Original
    1 C Light Sour Cream
1/2 C Non Fat Plain Yogurt
1/4 C Light Mayo (I use Miracle Whip Light Salad Dressing)
    2 t Sugar
    3 t Wine Vinegar
    3 T Freeze-Dried Chives

Mix everything in a bowl. It makes 1 3/4 C. I put in that it makes 28 servings of 1 T each. Per tablespoon: Calories 18, Fiber 0, Fat 1, Protein 1, Calcium 2, Sodium 29

I have never been a very experimental cook and had been trying to control my calories using a lot of "diet food" that contains much sodium. I may not have put the ingredients into MFP correctly because I cannot believe it tastes so good for so few calories.

Sweet! Thanks for posting. Ya the nutrition looks right. I think dressing is so hard to make low sodium. I wish I could figure out how to make a low sodium & low calorie Italian dressing that didn't end up tasting to much like vinegar (I tried making one...and it tasted like I poured ONLY vinegar on my salad...yuck)
