Are there any roller girls out there? I'm starting new recruit practice at the end of March for one of the local teams here...we have quite a few. I'm nervous but excited to do something kick *kitten* that will get me into great shape!
Any tips/advice?
I'm taking it easy and slowly getting back into exercising right now...I'm sure the 6 wks of training to test will be brutal so hopefully a good solid month of preparation will really help.

    Skate skate skate!

Work on getting you legs used to being in a squat and work your core muscles! Wall squats, planks, scissor kicks, lunges, biking and some plyometrics will also help. When you skate, skate low with your knees bent! Your body will thank you for doing this now rather than in your first few weeks of practice.
  • Thanks for the tips! So far I haven't made it out to the skating rink yet, I have a friend who's on the team and she's been too busy to go with me... I've been practicing in my kitchen/dining area though. Mainly on getting the feel for being on skates and practicing slow stops, turns, etc. I'm pretty short, 5'2" so I'll have to learn to use that to my advantage and get these thighs in great shape for skating lower than the taller gals.
