P90X - No Results - Why??

I just finished my first round of P90X. I stuck to the program, didn't miss a day until I got sick, then missed 3 days during the second phase recovery week. I ate as best as possible sticking to the Beach Body Menu Eat Smart Plan. I drank plenty of water and almost no alcohol. I also added running back in once per week the last month.

I started Insanity last week. But today was the first day I got to step onto my husband's body composition scale. It is a professional quality scale, used to assess high school wrestlers, it's calibrated every year.

Here are my before and after numbers, I'm SO disappointed:

I'm a 40 yo female 5'4" tall.

12/7/10 3/2/11
Weight: 131.0 132.2
BMI: 22.5 22.7
Fat% 29.5 28.3
BMR 1339 1344
Impedance 587 549
Fat Mass 38.61 37.4
FFM 92.41 94.8
TBW 67.61 69.41

In order to be at my target 20% Body Fat % to lose 13.81 lbs

I don't understand Impedance, Fat Mass, FFM, or TBW - DH wasn't there to ask this AM.
I did lose inches, I went from size 2 to 0 and lost 4" off my weight alone. I feel great, am still very happy with the results. I took 1:30 MPM off my 10K running time and I do look better. I'm just surprised that I didn't have more results. The caliper test had me at 23% body fat, but I'm not sure that was done right. I still do have that body fat around the middle, and I struggle with that. I'm hypothyroid as well.

Any insight to ward off my disappointment would be great. I'm hoping to see results from Insanity, but want to do it right. BeachBody has me at 2100 calories per day, but I've tried to maintain the 1700 until I get the extra weight off, 123 is my goal weight but 20% body fat is my true goal.

It sounds like you did get good results. I would pay much less attention to the numbers game than to the things like your pant sizes and how you look and how you feel. There are so many variables and potential inaccuracies in some of the numbers we tend to track (like body fat, BMR and of course the scale is probably the least reliable tool for generally fit folks).

I say congrats on losing the inches and cutting your run time. If you're at a size 0 and at 23% body fat, as a female, then you're already in that range where progress really shouldn't be measured by scales & impedance & BMI. For you I think it should be performance-based goals & how you look & feel.

Congrats on being a P90X grad!

So I re-stepped back onto the scale last night after doing a bunch of reading on dehydration. I'd done it first thing in the am. When I got back on it - my Body Fat % was at 27%, a little happier with that result.

Any idea if the calipers are worth the money to just get a set and leave the scale alone.
