    what is bump?

Bump is so I can save this into "my topics" and check back (so I can find this topic easier) because I'd like to know more about Pho as well.

it's probably fine, just like most noodle soups, but has tons of sodium so watch that.

Pho, yummmmm. This is one of my favorite dishes along with almost everything else ;-)
Personally I think it is great. I try not to get the fried spring rolls (yummmm) with it to keep the calories down.

It probably contains tons of sodium, plus the noodles are high-calorie and high simple carbs. In my opinion, it's not healthy.

Yeah high in sodium and enriched white flour noodles. If you get one loaded with veggies it would be fine unless you are worried about sodium.

Keep your protein choice in the pho lean and go easy on the rice noodles. If you follow those rules it isn't bad, except for the sodium, since you are eating mostly broth. I love pho too!

Being a server in a Vietnamese owned restaraunt I have to say...

I <3 Pho.. Esp with Hoison sauce! Like mentioned, its crazy loaded with sodium.

I have it on my list of things I want to eat on my cheat meal!

Healthy? Can't say, but I hardly ever see overweight Vietnamese individuals:smile:

As to the places I visit in my new town, I hardly ever get enough rice noodles to satisfy me:mad: , which I guess is a good thing. So I load up the soup with all the condiments I can get my hands on like bean sprouts, thai basil and the spiky green leaves to compensate. I figure those items help make my pho somewhat healthy.

The following are 2 of my favorite pho restaurants...J/K:

Actually, I found a Pho recipe at AllRecipes.com. The rice noodles are really integral to Pho being Pho, but at least this way you can control the amound of sodium. I use low sodium veggie broth. I also love to add extra anise star for flavor.
