Losing Weight For Good: So what REALLY makes it different th

Like many, this isn't the first time I've tried to lose weight. I've done it before over and over and over, with varied success. I've always had the same positive attitude at the beginning and made healthy lifestyle changes but I've invariably slipped down the road.

So my question to you all is: What makes it different this time?
How do you know you'll succeed this time -- that when you reach your goal weight you'll stay there?

For me: The other day, I found a photo of my mom when she was my age (26) and she looked so gorgeous. I was so proud and amazed at how healthy and fit she looked. When I have kids one day, I want them to look at my pictures and feel the same way. I want them to know I wasn't always a bit chunky! This really got to me (not that I'm planning on having children anytime soon, but still)!

I've been saving up some money so I can have a professional photographer take photos of me in 3 months! This has given me even more motivation to stay on track so I don't waste my hard-earned money looking/feeling gross in the pictures LOL

    I firmly believe the most important lesson to learn is how to pick yourself up and dust yourself off when you slip. You just have to keep doing it. Instead of looking at it as "this time", look at it as an ongoing lifelong process.

    this is a lifestyle change. you will lose weight slowly but in the long run, it's better for maintaining it. Thats just my thoughts. My husband lost 45 lbs in 6-8 months 4 yrs ago and has not gained anything back. He told me to be patient.

    The Lifestyle Changing Part. Everything I've tried before was just a temporary plan. I wanted to lose so much so fast and then go back to living like a pig. This time, I'm doing it slow enough that I can maintain and keep this lifestyle going :)

    I saw a picture of myself and I could do is barely glance at it. I looked so big I couldnt believe that is me :( ewwww....so instead of erasing it i printed it and have carry it on me. I dont want to hit 29 years old and look like that and feel miserable...I wanna be 30 and FABULOUS!
    slow and steady is my new thing....

    I want to be more healthy a few times i have tried to lose weight but like you say slipped back into that rutt again and then put on some of what i have lost , for me i have not been slim scince i had my 1st child 16 years ago , thats fat for a longtime , but now I'm finally happy with my life , not all off it i may add but most of it i want to be slimmer to enjoy the things both me and my husband would like to do traveling and walking seeing new places doing things together , I'd like to be able to say to my hubby right lets go for a run tonight and just do a 3mile run without worrying or thinking about it , just being a fitter healthy person after seeing my parents pass away unhealthy and un fit ....it's shocked me .

    for me this time around i decided that yes i'm a mother of 3 but i don't want to look like it... not only that but i'll be turning the dirty 30!! this year and I want to look amazing! When I see pictures of myself from a few months ago I can't believe what I see... I don't want to feel like that anymore. ALso, when I'm working on myself I'm a much better mother and wife. our entire household improves when my mentality improves. :happy:
