1 cup frozen fruit of your choice
1 cup milk (or fruit juice works too)
4 tbsp non-fat yogurt
a handful or 2 of spinach and you would never know its in there

I sometimes buy the Smoothie bag mix thats in the frozen fruit section. U can make 2 smoothies out of them and they taste pretty good.0

My two favorite!
FRUIT SMOOTHIE
1 Cup mixed berries
1 Cup 1% milk (skim is gross to me haha)
1 Banana
5 icecubes
and
1/2 cup water... (the fruit makes it sooo thick)
about 250 calories
CHOCOLATE PEANUTBUTTER BANANA SMOOTHIES
1 cup 1% milk
1 banana
1 Tbs Peanutbutter (I use kirklands organic creamy peanut butter)
1 Tbs Cocoa Powder (I use hersheys but I hear Giradellies sp? is great too)
5 Icecubes
and vanilla to taste (sweetens up the cocoa)
about 300-350 calories (great for after work out because it has potassium and protein in it!)

my smoothies are really easy ~ and this recipe feeds two of us.
i light yoplait yogurt (i like very vanilla)
1 cup of frozen fruit (I like strawberries, mangos, blueberries and a few peaches)
half cup or so of almond milk, soy milk or orange juice to get it to the right thickness
Teaspoon of vanilla
whip it up in the vitamix or blender of choice
a teaspoon of cool whip or readywhip on the top makes it pretty to look at :-)
(I don't like banana's myself in mine as it makes the texture weird.... and most fresh fruit doesn't work as well to get that desert/milkshake experience.)0 -
1/2 a mango
1/2 a banana
a handful of blueberries
1/2 cup of apple juice
1 tablespoon of muesli
2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
a few ice cubes

love smoothies, here's my regular recipe
Absolute Vegetarian Soy protein in Vanilla ( I prefer the flavor of this to the Whey protein's out there)
1 cup of Almond milk (less calories than regular milk)
1TBSP of ground flax
1 TBSP of peanut butter or almond butter
1/2 banana
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
I use mine as a meal replacement when I am too busy to make something healthy, so I try and pack as much in there as I can....0 -
6 ice cubes
8 hulled strawberries
1 banana
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 skim milk
Makes 2 servings, although, I drink the whole thing at once. :bigsmile:0 -

Gingerbread Smoothie
Makes 1
Ingredients:
1 cup Almond Breeze
1 pear, diced
1 scoop of Vanilla Whey Superior Charge
Handful of ice
A few shakes of cinnamon
A few shakes of ground ginger
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

I really love the taste of bananas combined with berries of all kinds (unsless it's late summer I usually take frozen berries).
Yoghurt and milk go pretty well together.
A teaspoon honey makes sour fruits calmingly smooth...0 -

I make an Apple Oat Slushy sometimes that I use 1/2 cup 10-cal cranberry juice in and then water/ice but for most smoothies and especially protein shakes I CANNOT do no water ewwww! I did it for 2 days on a cleanse and it's just gross. I was however successful in amending my protein shakes to 1/2 cup milk, 2/3 cup water and 3/4 cup ice - it's creamy and delicious you don't notice the water in the taste and it makes my smoothie XXL rather than my original 1 cup skim milk option = medium.
That being said, for the sake of creativity try a Mango Lassi (traditional Indian drink done low-fat)
Mango Lassi
½ cup frozen mango chunks
¾ cup skim milk
100g low-fat vanilla yogurt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 packet sweetener
Directions: Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

My favorite smoothie tip: use frozen bananas! That way you don't have to use ice cubes (dilutes the flavor, imo) - and it always gives everything an ice cream-like texture. Also, since I can never eat a whole bunch of bananas before they get too soft it's a great way to use them up. Just peel, break in a few pieces, and put in a ziploc in the freezer. Throw a frozen banana in a blender with some other fruit, a dash of vanilla, cover with skim milk, blend, and you're done!
Also, the BEST when you have a milkshake craving is the peanut butter chocolate one a previous poster mentioned. This is how I make it:
1 frozen banana
small spoonful of peanut butter
small scoop of chocolate powder
tiny bit of vanilla
skim milk0 -
1 cup frozen fruit (any kind)
1/2c Pacific Organic UNSWEETENED Almond milk (good flavor, fiber, etc)
1/2c Stonyfield farms Fat-free plain yogurt
1/4 cup OJ
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp Bob's Red Mill Flax Seed Meal
Mix in blender and yum!
If you want to do chocolatey kind, skip the fruit and juice and add ice, a bit more almond milk (or water) and about 2 tbsp ovaltine.0 -

1 tsp liquid vitamin b
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 juice
1 serving frozen fruit
1 tbs flax seed
I use a hand blender. Sometimes I'll through in a banana, ginger, or honey depending on what juice and fruit I have used.0 -

I have one every morning for breakfast:
1/2 cup frozen raspberries (lower in sugar/carbs than other fruits)
1/2 cup frozen fruit of choice (I use a pineapple, peach, mango, & strawberry mix from Walmart)
1/2 cup frozen cut spinach (great source of iron)
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt (great source of protein if you don't use powders like me)
2 Tbsp ground flax seed
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (less calories than regular milk and NO sugar)
1/2 cup Trop50 orange juice (gives it extra flavor without all the calories/sugar in regular fruit juices)
Has SO MANY good nutrients and only 310 calories for a 24+ oz smoothie. I stay full until lunch everyday.
*You can also make one with a banana and 2 Tbsp of peanut butter for workout recovery smoothie0 -
I love smoothies for breakfast. My daughter loves them as a nighttime snack. So from these ingredients I make two and save one for myself the next day:
about 1 cup of nonfat plain yogurt
about 1 cup of mixed berries (if they're frozen, thaw them out a bit before you use them, especially strawberries)
1 medium banana, in pieces.
Puree until smooth. The banana provides all the sweetness, and it also makes it super thick and rich, like a milkshake.
Five minutes, TOPS. It's the only way I can stand yogurt, there's no added sugar, and frozen fruit is better for you than stuff that's been sitting in warehouses and grocery stores for weeks before you put it in your cart.0 -

Just made a yummy one this morning.
1 cup plain yogurt
1 frozen banana, peel removed
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 of a large apple, core removed, skin intact
1 ounce of baby spinach
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Slice up the apple and banana so they fit in the food processor, and blend until smooth. My smoothie was pretty thick, so you may want to add some milk to thin it out. This recipe makes 2 10-oz smoothies.0 -

it's like a chocolate shake
you could also use almond milk to cut the calories0 -
