skin flaps/hanging skin

This is a weird topic, but I have been wondering about it. Do those of you who were very overweight and have lost weight have problems with hanging skin, especially around belly or arms? Or does it tighten up if you exercise while losing weight? I am just curious...any advice? I don't want to have to have surgery to get rid of excess skin.

I'm watching! I cant really wear vest tops at the moment because I'm uncomfortable with lose skin, I've lost the weight quickly, so Im hoping it will eventually shrink! ... fingers crossed!

At my biggest I was 247lbs, I've also had 3 big babies. My biggest was 10lbs 7oz. So needless to say my tummy has been stretched from here to New Mexico. I'm currently 180.6 and I have LOTS of extra skin on my tummy. Its "tightening" up a little, it doesn't hang quite as low as it did 20, 30+ lbs ago... but its still there. I won't ever wear a bikini that's for sure :P My arms have a bit of extra skin too.. But I'm not that concerned about it just yet. I think I'll be able to tone my arms up enough that it won't really bother me. I'm definetly considering a tummy tuck once I've met my goal and stayed there for a couple years. They're expensive and the recovery is tough, my kids are all 3 and under, so I can't really be layed up right now. Anyways, I think it all depends on how much weight you've lost, how much of it was in your tummy/arms etc.

If u incorparate wieght lifting, situps...ect. into your cardio routine...most likely it will tighten as you lose the weight u desire :)

I've been at a healthy weight for almost 10 years now, with a few minor gains in between. I run, do triathlons, strength train, and dance, but I will never have a "flat" stomach because of the extra skin. It does get a lot better with time and proper exercise/nutrition so don't give up :D
