Hi, I joined MFP a few days ago & don't enjoy going to the gym, so I thought I would buy a fitness console to work out daily from home. The trouble is I don't know which one to go for. I have tried the Wii & thought it was fun but have never tried the X -box kinnect. Does anyone have any advice?

I love my wii and lots of variety, wii boxing, wii active, my fitness couch, zumba, just dance, all great ways to exercise and have fun!0

I would recommend the Kinect, because it involves your entire body via the camera, unlike the Wii where in mostly involves just the arms unless you have the fitness pad for it. Xbox Kinect, to me, just seems a little more involved than the Wii at this point.
I love both consoles, but I have had better results playing Kinect Adventures with the Xbox so far. The only disadvantage is that the Xbox costs a little more than the Wii - if you do not have an Xbox already.
However, both consoles are fun and offer a variety of options when considering fitness plans.0 -
If you have friends with consoles, see if you can try them out. Also, if your friends have the same console as you, makes sharing games easier
They key thing though, is to just do it. No matter what console or exercise program you get, nothing will happen unless you do it0 -
I love my wii and use the workout games and dance games daily. The Xbox scans you so you will be more accountable, you can cheat with the wii since many of the activities measure only your arm movements. Since the wii has been out longer, you'll probably find more options with it, and probably at a lower price. Again, I love my wii and would highly recommend it to you.0

I have the wii and I love it. I have the zumba game and it is really fun. It comes with a belt that goes around your waist and you put the remote in it. I also have the balance board and wii fit game.0

I love my Wii. Yes, with some of the fitness games you could cheat since it is just arm movement, but you are only hurting yourself when you do that.
Right now I am using the EA Active 2 for Wii and a really like it. It weighs me weekly with my board, I was able to set a schedule for workouts - and it tracks each one you miss! It has a sensor band around your thigh, and one around your upper arm that also tracks your heart rate. You have to do the moves properly to be able to continue and move on to the next one. I really like it. Another plus for me is that you can log online with it, so my mom and I both got the game and created a workout group on the server for just her and I. We can see each other's progress and encourage each other.0 -
Thank you. I like the sound of this one. Looks like the Wii is winning!0
