Does your doctor put you on the diet?
Are there certain weight requirements in order to be able to get on the diet?
Were do you purchase you hcg?
If you don't mind can you tell me how the program is working for you?

Ask your doctor if its right for you.
  • dont DO diets....there is no need to when you are here at MFP...watch/enter your calories/exercise, stick with it daily and make a lifestyle change...dont diet. once you go off the diet but you arent committed to calorie counting, etc. it'll come back., the weight i mean...you dont need to waste the money you work too hard to get :)

of course it's just my opinion - but i know from experience becuase of all the money ive lost from all the diets ive gone on...best part about MFP? its free :)

    Check out this website.

    http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/truth-about-hcg-for-weight-loss

It was written by a registered dietitian, so she knows what she's talking about.

Here's a quote from it: "You will lose weight on the hCG diets but the weight loss will be the result of the very low-calorie or starvation-like diet, not the hCG."

I know it has you eat only 500 calories a day, and that's why you lose the weight. The hormone does nothing, and the drops are expensive. Save your money :)

I chose the MFP healthy life style plan! You CAN too!!! I've lost almost 120 lbs in a year and a week. Sure, you will lose weight eating 500 calories a day, but really you can do it without the HCG. Eat at least 1200 NET calories and exercise hard. I have never looked back. I feel proud of myself for doing without HCG drops, surgery, special diet, ect. Give MFP an honest try and I bet you will forget about the HCG diet! Just my opinion (I am so thankful for this website- it has literally helped me change my life) :flowerforyou:

Wow, you are such an inspiration :)
  • The best thing to do is to eat small portions every 3 hours. Eat clean whole foods. No processed foods. This plan is simple. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle.

Are you planning on being on HCG for your whole life? Being a healthy weight is about a lifestyle change. We have to learn discipline and control. If you say that you want to loose weight with HCG and then maintain by eating and exercising right, you are just lying to yourself.

Do you eat because you are hungry or do you eat for other reasons (time to eat, boredom, influenced by others, influence by tv). Do you stop eating when you stop feeling hungry? For most of us we are overweight because we have bad eating habits. HCG is not going to change that.

There is no easy way to do this.
  • I agree with the rest, MFP is the plan, it is the "diet", it is the lifestyle change, and it is what works. Its the whole program together that works together. Its the calorie calculator, but not only that, you become aware of other nutrients as well and how to monitor thouse. Its the excercise calculator and extra calories you are allowed. Its the support and knowledge from others that are on the same or similar journeys as you. We are here for you, we are struggling to keep this up and understand our bodies, we want to do this and we want you to as well.

Some days I think about how hard this is and how difficult it is to stay within my cals, I couldnt even imagine trying to only eat 500 cals!! UGH

These are just my thoughts and experiences, but I believe that we are here doing it with you, we will support you, we will push you, and we will cheer you on. Plus you will save your hard earned money for the rewards that you will deserve even more when you know that you did it on your own with the help of you MFP pals and tools!!

Good luck with whatever you choose, research and be aware of your options, and think about you and your body first!!

If you want to give this a go (i suggest you don't because it's bunk and it's the unhealthy starvation diet that does it but if you do want to give it a go-) then you must get it from your doctor. The sold over the counter stuff is illegal: http://www.azfamily.com/news/health/FDA-Over-the-counter-HCG-products-fraudulent-114733744.html

The HCG drops, don't make you lose weight, so don't waste your money. You lose from the 500 calories a day. I know the plan too is on for 6 weeks, and then wait a month or two before starting again.

I guess, if you're going to try it anyways, save the money, and see how you do on the 500 cals a day. It's not going to hurt you unless you are doing only 500 calories for a prolonged period of time. So....just be careful! :)

I did hCG, and it REALLY is about a lifestyle change. I don't know all of the science behind hCG, but with these drops your hunger does go way down..and you aren't losing the weight just because you are eating 500 calories. The main part of hCG that I found is once you stop taking the drops. I would suggest looking at HCG forums of people who have been successful and are maintaning the weight loss. Once you stop taking the drops you enter the maintenance phase, and according to your BMI you eat so many calories, with each week SLOWLY adding in more foods that can't be eaten on the diet. I found it to be way harder than a 'life style change', but the results are amazing.

Have you tried the hCG diet wriglucy? It really is the hCG that makes you lose the weight. I did it, and if I was off the drops of course I couldn't have lasted on just 500 calories

Please read the article I posted early. There is no evidence for HCG hormone helping in weightloss. Here is a quote from the article from Stephen Barrett, MD "tells WebMD that "scientific studies have demonstrated that hCG injections do not cause weight loss.”

I don't know if people may feel that it lowers their hunger, but there is no scientific evidence. I don't mean to bash the thing, I have friends on it and they are spending a lot of money on the drops. So, I'm trying to save people money...if they want to try it and see if it helps them, go for it. I'm just saying that the science is not behind the hormone.

Sorry...but I wanted to read the other side and find studies that found in favor of the diet, and I'm going to keep searching, but I happened to find another one against the diet, 4 that state the study, and how they did it, and there is no evidence for the hormone.

Seriously....like I said...I'm not trying to be mean or anything about it, I just want people to not waste their money. If you want to do the diet, maybe save the money and just try for 500 calories a day. That would do the same thing, and be wayyyyy cheaper.

Thank you for looking up the information..I'm glad to hear other sides (pros & cons) but I really want to give this a try... I figure it can't hurt and so far as gaining the weight back that happens with any diet if you don't keep track of what and how you eat.. I have read many good things about this diet (I will be doing injections) and I think this will be a gr8 option for ME..
But I'm. Only planning to do the 23-30 day cycle to help me loose some weight...then I will continue to eat right, work out to maintain my weight loss

But thank you to everyone for the concern
