love reading through the post people" have wrote, it really helps with motivation.
I am new to MFP.. I am 37, female, 5'6 and stuck at 145 lbs

I have been working out the best I can. I do about 1hr a day on elliptical trainer and 3hrs a week of circuit training (like curves) I count calories, eat small meals 4-6 times a day, doing my best to maintain 1200 calories a day, for the last 4 months. I have lost 20 lbs and I am happy about that. But I have been stuck at 145 lbs for weeks now. I am getting so frustrated I want to quit. I have given up wine, baked potatoes, burgers, and chocolate shakes completely. what else do I have to do.

There is not a whole lot I can do with injuries to knee, back and shoulder, my range of motion is limited. I am doing the best I can and don't know what else to do, in order to lose the last 15 pounds.

try eating a little more a day. it's a good idea to eat at least half of the calories your burn from working out. Doctor told me when you're plateauing just keep pushing forward and eating just a little more. Good luck!

I'm in the similar situtation. 5'7 stuck at 151, for a month. Someone suggested that I don't eat enough cals, that my body may be close to starvation mode. So I changed my settings to lose 1lb per week, which is normal since we are not obsese. So I went from 1,200 cals to 1,440.Hopefully I will lose some soon. Maybe try this, and see how it goes..Also change up your exercise routine.

my naturalist told me a 3 day cleanse fast would do the trick to get a jump start again. but no sodas....... all healthy sugar free or light liquids and lots of water,
  • Wow, I would have never thought to eat more...
I kept trying to eat less, but hunger and fatigue would kick in.
I will do that for the next 3 weeks and see how it goes.

Thank you for your time in replying to my desperation.

Eat more, have a cheat meal and change your exercise, one or all could help you get past that boulder in the road and start losing again - My husband was told in his fitness program to keep calories in a range and to always fall within that range, that if you constantly eat only 1200 calories, your body will eventually think that is the norm and shut down to weight loss

It sounds like increasing the amount of food you eat in a day might help. Calories = Energy. Working out subtracts the energy (or calories) and your body needs the energy to maintain daily needs (breathing, blinking, pumping blood, walking, talking etc.) If your body isn't getting enough energy to do daily activities and work out it is going to hold on to the calories you eat rather than burn them up quickly because your body NEEDS the energy for more important things like keeping your heart beating and breathing etc.

As far as your injuries and range of motion problem, I highly reccomend strength, balance, and flexibility workouts like yoga or pilates. It may hurt at first and definitely only do what you can, modifying as needed. But if you can strengthen the muscles around your injured body parts, you will find working out and daily life to be much easier and the likeliness that you will get hurt again will decrease.

    Hope this helps!

Change up the exercise and use different muscle groups! Your body gets used to your routine and doesn't burn as many calories. Good luck
  • Thank you all so much for your kind support, advice and understanding.

Eating more and Yoga sounds like what I will be doing starting Monday.
I wish I had the words to give you my gratitude
thank you a thousand times over

I'm in the same situation. I have 14 pounds left and haven't seen any loss in 2 weeks. Feel free to add me so we can share ideas and help get each other through this!! :)
