Feeling off!

I am currently aiming for 1200 calories a day and burning between 800-900 a day in cardio. Since starting my 1200 calories a day I have been very drained and sometimes dizzy. It has been about three weeks now that I have been feeling off. I was starting to think I was getting sick or my 14 month old non sleeping twins were starting to get to me. I even started to think maybe it is something in my house making me feel this way. The windows have not been opened since fall. I even considered my sugar levels since I was a candy addict before. I have a hypoactive thyroid and have lost 16.5 lbs since Jan 1st so I know I need to get that checked. But I think I would be feeling hyped if it were my thyroid. Does anyone think it could be my calorie intake? I really don't want to up it. I already go through spurts of .5 lbs loss for two weeks then 1-2 lbs for two weeks. I hate those .5 lb weeks I can't handle any more of them. Thank you all for any input you have.

You're not eating enough if that's how many calories you're burning. Consider upping your calorie count a couple hundred and see if that helps.
  • Thanks for the input. So am I supposed to eat my goal calories plus exercise calories? So if MFP says to aim for 1200 and I burn another 800 in cardio I am supposed to eat 2000? I feel like I will be allowing myself the junk I want just to fill the gap. Does that make sense?
A typical day I get 1200 goal calories and burn 800 so how many do you think I should be consuming?
Could that be why I have a couple .5 lb loss weeks? My body isn't getting enough?

You may be letting your body go into starvation mode. You may want to aim for you 1200 calorie goal and if you burned 1000 give yourself half 500 that way your not starving but still burning. meet in the middle so your body can work at its best. One if the biggest things is to make sure that you are spacing meals every 2.5 to 3 hours, so that your metablolizm learns to work properly again. I know it can be hard to fit it in but it will help especially with the hunger. If you are "eating clean" and trying to keep your calories in your protein and veggies that should help. Not that you should cut out all carbs but just try to keep them less and earlier in the day for engery for the day. Fruit, brown rice and sweet potatoes are you best bet for carbs. Keep up the good work but remember to feed your body the good stuff for energy! Hope this helps :)
  • Thanks Mel! That helps alot. I hate feeling so BLAH!!!! I am dizzy and tired all the time. I could fall asleep at any moment if I were to allow myself. I will do my best to try what you say. I would rather eat more healthy things than junk just to fill my calories up for the day. Thanks again!

I have to agree with Mel. Its a long debated issue here on MFP about whether or not you should eat them back or not. I do not eat back ALL my exercise calories, but I do eat back some. I'm having some trouble losing so I actually just added back a some more calories hoping that it will help. I just sent you a friend request, perhaps we can help each other learn more about this as we go!!!
  • Thank you. I understand what you girls are saying just seems weird. I am burning calories but I need to eat some of them. :) Thank you girls so much! I hope this helps me feel better and drop some weight.
