I went out and bought quiona, but have no recipe suggestions for it. Can anyone help me out with this? If you use it, please share tips and recipes! :flowerforyou:

I love quinoa. I have been learning how to cook it as well. lol .It works for breakfast instead of oatmeal. higher in protein, you just can eat as large of an amount, but then you can pair it with fresh berries, and honey or agave. I love it, or I have made it with rice. I also will have to post the recipe I saw for breakfast burritos. It was on the today show. The chef for Janet Jackson, made these burritos with it and it looked really good. I have also saw stuffed squash recipes with it. Try www.vegetariantimes.com. Hope this helps.

I usully take 1/2 a cup of quiona and saute it with butter or olive oil and garlic or dill for a minute or two then add 1.5cup of chicken broth and let it simmer together 20minutes. It comes out with a nice almost crunchy texture that way and a fantastic rich flavor. I like the chicken broth better than using water and its only about 15 calories added. I use it like that as a side or as a lunch by itself or with a salad.

Basically just use it in place of rice. That's what I do. Some ground turkey and cabbage over quinoa, or ground turkey and eggplant, etc etc... :D

I use half chicken stock and half rice and cook it in the rice steamer. You can add seasonings like garlic and onion, etc. I like to sautee veggies like mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc and mix it in after it has cooked.

I use cooked quinoa in place of bread crumbs when I make turkey meatloaf muffins. I add salsa to the mix as well.
I also use it as others do ... in place of rice and as a breakfast cereal.

I cooked it tonight with shrimp and it was delicious.

    1/3 cup of quinoa
    2/3 cup of water
bring to boil and then turned down to low for 15-20 minutes until water absorbed

I then sauted red bell pepper, purple onion, cut baby carrots, baby portabello mushroom and garlic in 1 tsp olive oil and 1 pat of butter until soft and then
added fresh raw shrimp and sauted until done, I added 1/3 cup low sodium chicken broth when pan started to dry out. I then added quinoa, fresh raw spinach, Mrs Dash, lemon juice and tossed together.

Did you mean, "just can't eat as large of an amount"? On the box I have it has 1/4 cup uncooked as a serving (which cooks up to be 3/4 cup and it has 31 carbs. Is that how you calculate a serving?
