of course if we had lots of time on our hands, we would cook from scratch :) -- and i do prefer the fresh taste of homemade stuff. but on lazy weekends or days when we're on the go or just don't want to cook, what are your favorite go-to processed/packaged items for a meal or snack?

my fave store of all time is trader joe's! my top picks from there are:
-instant organic blueberry oatmeal
-jalapeno chicken sausage (yummy in an omelet or pasta dish)
-tom yum yam soup (frozen)
-tomato and roasted red pepper soup
-roasted tomato and basil hummus
-pear tarte (with marizpan - yum!)
-french truffles (i portion out one truffle at a time - just 50 calories!)

other non-trader joe's faves include:
-laughing cow cheese wedge
-special k berry cereal
-myoplex lite snack bars
-morningstar veggie burgers

help inspire me with your faves! :) i'll be on the lookout for them next time!

    Barilla plus rotini
(just discovered this last night) Hamburger helper whole wheat something or other. I just used the noodles & made my own sauce. REALLY good for being whole wheat - I usually HATE whole wheat noodles.

Marie Callander's fresh steamer frozen dinners and really good and only about 410 calories.
I love Trader Joe's too. Their veggie burgers and stir frys are good.
Also Campbells Chunky soups. They have a good amount that only have 230 calories for the whole can.

AMY'S. Just anything Amy's. Unfortunately, the carb to protein ratio in Amy's products is typically not that great for me, so I can't eat it terribly often, but the stuff is just delicious.

    Hi,

I never eat packaged/processed foods, I get migraines & most packaged foods are prepared with preservatives & they cause migraines. Seasoning mixes, those yummy Better Crocker scalloped potatoes, I stay away from all that stuff now. There's lots of things I used to eat that I stay away from now, just because of getting migraines.

It really doesn't take that much time to cook from scratch. I spend about 30 minutes in the kitchen per meal. Not to sound like Rachel Ray or anything, lol. But most meals really don't take much more time than 30 minutes to prepare. And meals from scratch are generally much more economical.

The only thing I hate are the dishes, cleaning up the pots & pans! LOL
