I just completed the Couch to 5K program tonight. I ran for 3 miles! It took me 54 minutes (am nowhere near the 10 minute mile pace) but I did it! And ran for 54 minutes straight!
When I started the program 9 weeks ago, I could barely run for 1 minute without feeling like I was going to have a heart attack!

Congrats!!! You are an inspiration!!! I am on Week 5 and 3 miles seems 100000 miles away...0

That is awesome!!! I know how I felt the first time I finished 3 miles... just awesome!!! Keep going, you'll see that running is absolutely addiciting!!!0
-
KUDOS! That's quiet an accomplishment.
Look how far you have come in just 9 weeks. Amazing what the body can do!0 -
that is awesome, I am only on week 5, and the 8 min. run is hard, hoping to make it to the 9 wk mark0

Outstanding job! My hat goes off to you!0

Congratz!! That's so exciting. I just got back from running W2D1 and it was tough. I wanna go back to week 1!! haha I didn't realize that it was only a 2 month program until today. It's hard to believe that in that amount of time I should be running 3 miles, but it's good to know that others are going along this journey as well. I'm very slow. It's hard for me to even log my workouts because my pace isn't even fast enough to register as a run, but I definitely don't feel like I'm walking.
Kudos to your latest accomplishment!0 -
wow! that is amazing! great job! you should be very proud of yourself0

That is brilliant! Really, really, well done! I'm on this programme too, I'm on week 6 (day 3 on Wednesday!). It is hard to start with but I bet your legs and butt are thanking you now.0

Congratulations!! I love C25K, such a great program. Helped me learn to run and I've been running for over a year because of it. Keep it up!0
-
That is great - congrats!! It's great to hear a non-runner (like me) can be come a runner by following this program. I'm on W2D2, and I love it so far. Thanks for sharing your NSV!!! :flowerforyou: :drinker:0

Well done!
I'm doing c25k too and loving it!0 -
That's awesome! Once you get your endurance, the speed will naturally start to pick up. Keep it up!0

Congratulations!! Doesn't it feel amazing!! I just did my first 3 miles of C25K last week. It took me double the time to get there because I had to do some weeks twice before I felt I was ready to move on to the next. I'm slow too so now I'm going to work on getting a little faster.
Keep up the great work!0 -
Completely inspirational!! I am on week 3 day 1 (tomorrow). Hope I can do it too!!0
-
Amazing, well done!! I hope I'll be able to do that by the end too. I'm only on week 2 at the moment, but I'm loving it!0

Awesome job!! I am planning on starting the C25K program as well. I am not a runner, but its always something I wish I could do! I ran the Warrior Dash in January which is a 5k with 12 obstacles mixed in it (I did it with no prior training, talked into it by a friend)....it was SO hard, but SO fun, and SO rewarding crossing that finish line! I finished in 55minutes. I am signing up for another race called the Champions Mud Bash which is a 5k with obstacles in June, my goal is to finish in under 40minutes, and hopefully the C25k program will get me there!!0

Congrats!!!!0

That's incredible! That makes me want to try it... but anytime I try running on a hard surface, it absolutely kills my knees. Anyone out there with knee problems that have found success with c25K? Maybe I should start a new thread for this, lol. Congrats on your success, that is totally amazing! I would be sooo happy to be able to run for even ONE mile!!!0
-
Congrats!!!! Working on Week 7 and never imagined that I would be running for 25 minutes!!0
-
That's awesome. congrats.
I do have a question though. I just completed week 8/ started week 9. I ran for 30 min straight. How long have you been doing it where you got to the mileage? In my 30 minutes I did 2 miles. I am thinking it would take like another 3 weeks if I add 5 minutes a week. Is that how you did it, or were you running distance each time?
I was just wondering (before I saw this post) if I did the time but couldn't quite get the distance if that counted too.0 -

When I first started, I was running in my Nike Shox and my knees hurt, a lot! So, I got fitted for some running shoes and purchased them online (Brooks Adrenaline GTS) and once I started using the correct shoes for my running style, my knee pain went away. I still have a little pain every now and again, but it is not a big deal (to me).
But, I am not a doctor, so I don't want to tell you to go run a marathon with bad knees, but getting the right shoes really helped me, personally.0 -

Honestly, this whole time I had just been running for time, not distance. But on the very last day of the program, I mapped out 3 miles and just told myself I was going to run it no matter how long it took me. So, that was the first time I actually ran for distance. So, doing it for time only definitely counts because doing it that way prepared me to be able to run for as long as I did.0 -
Congratulations on finishing C25K!!! You must be sooo proud. I'll be starting week 8 on Wednesday. I still can't believe that just a few short weeks ago I could barely keep going for 1 minute and now I'm going for 25+ minutes. Exciting. The program truly does work. You've just got to believe in yourself.0

Awesome! Way to go! I started C25K almost 2 months ago, and then used this as an onramp into training for a longer period of time ... I found a free resource at Runnersworld.com called the Smart Coach that lets you either maintain or aim for a specific event. It will give you distances, ideal mile paces, etc. I have 5K's this month and next ... and 10K's in May and July.
You're awesome!0 -
Great job!!!! I totally know the feeling! I just finally ran a 5k on Monday, also using the C25K plan! I have my first 5k event this weekend, so just in time!
It's amazing knowing that a minute was too much to begin with and now ALMOST AN HOUR is doable!!! :-)0 -
That is brilliant. Just what I needed to hear. I'm only at W2D2 and you just gave me hope.0
