My visit with the dietician

So I had my visit with the dietician and it really made me see what I am doing wrong! First of all, I needed to INCREASE my calories and 2nd of all she said that I wasn't eating enough at breakfast and lunch. My pattern was to have a protein shake for breakfast, a spinach and tomato salad for lunch and then eat much more for dinner. Even though I was at 1200 calories I was told to eat the majority of my calories earlier in the day. She compared it to gas in your gas tank. If you fill up the tank later in the day (dinner) as I did, I wouldn't be able to burn it off efficiently. She also told me to eat more starches and I know i don't but I need to for the enery. So hopefully this will help me to lose weight instead of just being stuck. Thanks to everyone for your encouraging private messages. Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing! :flowerforyou: Eating more earlier in the day makes sense! I have wondered about that.

I've heard the message that breakfast is the most important meal of the day so many times it's hard to forget. Good luck on changing your eating habits going forward!

Thanks I should prolly start doing that with the lunch and supper thing because I only consume 1200 (plus cals burned) and am not really really losing.

I have heard that eating a bigger breakfast and tapering your meals for the rest of the day is good. My only problem with that is I have a hard time eating a big breakfast. I can only handle a bowl of cereal and maybe a glass of juice, any more than that and I feel nauseous.

The same thing happened to me. I was eating 1200 calories a day and not eating any of my exercise calories (this is what my "trainer" told me"). I got really sick and my potassium and sodium got really low. I saw my doctor and my dietician and they said only eating a net of 700-800 calories was starving me. They said to go to 1800 calories, but that was just way to much food...I couldn't fit all that food in my day. I have cut it back to 1400 calories but I do eat some of my exercise calories. I try to keep my net at 1400 a day. My weight loss picked up when I started eating more also. I'm glad you now have the right information now.

My mom always told me "eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, and dinner like a pauper." It really does change the rest of my day when I have a good, big breakfast. (I just miss her making it for me while I slept in...)
