About me: female, 17, Sophmore High School, 168lbs goal 130, Been a member of mfp since january.
Losing weight is my biggest challenge i have faced! I have been using mfp on and offf for about a month now. Its not something i am proud of.. Somee weeks i start off sooo positive and then bammm back to sqaure one.. I cant find it in myself to get up and motivate myself to do jillian michaels or log in my calories or even eat right? Im tired of just being unhappy with my apperance butt i have stopped trying now, makes me think that maybe everyone that has told me i was lazy is right!! calling me lazy has always been an innsult to me!
I feel like no one can know my struggle like i can.. Just posting my feelings.. any advice on how you stay motivated?

Hey!! I feel like commitment and consistency are key to weight loss. I just keep measuring and looking at losses on the scale to keep me going! And I look forward to the smaller close I'll be able to buy someday ) Best of luck!!0

Well, it's like this, when you are TIRED of being tired, that's when you will just do what you have to do. I'm just saying, no harm in my words, it is what it is. What keeps me motivated is my needing to lose weight to be healthy for myself and the people I love and my want to lose weight to have more energy, wear the clothes I really like, etc. So, maybe you can make a list of the most important reasons and post them up where you can see them EVERYDAY and don't forget to set mini goals and rewards for reaching them along your weight loss journey. I hope this helps some. Good luck on your journey!! We are all here for you and rooting for you!!

First of all, you have to learn to be kind to yourself and be patient! Losing weight can be difficult and motivation is the first thing to go out the window when things aren't working out. You really have to have a positive goal in mind (130 lbs sounds good!) and you have to constantly remind yourself of why you want to be there. If you stick with it, you'll start to notice your clothes fitting better and you will just feel better in general, but you HAVE to stick through those first few weeks or even months when you feel like you aren't seeing any results.
Losing weight has to be about getting healthy and taking care of yourself. Step one of that is being good to yourself! If you miss a workout or don't feel motivated, calling yourself lazy or worse will not help the problem! Try thinking about how good you will feel after the workout or think about your goals if you start to feel tempted by foods you know aren't going to do you any good. Trying to find a support group can also be a great help!
Good luck on your journey!0 -
Hang there! You can do this. Maybe it would help to try to change things slowly instead of getting overwhelmed by trying to change everything all at once. So pick one thing to tackle at a time.
First change how much you eat, for example. Don't even worry about what you are eating or exercise or anything else. Just focus on portions. When that seems not so bad, start substituting healthier choices for things that you think might not be great choices. And when that seems okay, start moving, well start moving at any time really, but I think baby steps can be really helpful.
Good luck and keep coming back here for support!

Don't let people get you down. I know how it was when I was in High Scvhool. I wasn't fat but I was a little chunky. I didn't gain weight until after High School. But peer pressure is a B%%. Be strong and don't let anyone get you down. Just think about your future goals of accomplishing your goal weight. You will be so glad you didn't let anyone deter you from your goal. You are doing great and keep it up0

I know how you feel. Back in the day when they made us do a mile run in gym and everyone would lap me yelling something along the lines of "Come on fatty, there's food at the end!". Trust me, I understand. It really comes down to forcing yourself to stay motivated. Even when you want to quit, you have to remember those time. Remember what it felt like that exact moment it happened. That's what keeps me going.
I look longingly at that apple pie, or think that I'm just not in the mood to exercise, and I think "Oh well, what's one little slip?". Then I force myself to remember being laughed at and made fun of. It usually spurs me into the right direction.
Good luck! If you need support and motivation, I'm here for ya!0
