I recommend pretty much anything by Fall Out Boy or the Fratelli's. That's what I rock out to while I'm rocking the elliptical trainer.

Daft Punk & Fatboy Slim have got it done for me recently.

Check out "Right Here, Right Now" by Fatboy Slim
and basically the whole Alive album by Daft Punk
also most Pendulum is high pace/high energy.

Another few I just thought of were Girl Talk, Tiesto & Basement Jaxx.
  • You need remixes. Try dubstep, specifically dabears. You can download their music for free online. Or try some hardstyle music that has a constant upbeat to it. :)

I really enjoy the podrunner podcasts. They are a mix of songs that generally range from 120 to 180 beats per minute, mostly techno and dance. I also like Daft Punk and Katy Perry.

"On To The Next One" by Jay-Z

    Hello MFP,

I am new to the sight and very excited! I have already started my lifestyle changes, but need more support and encouragement. Basically I have been worink out to some DVD's and bike riding on Saturdays with my husband and daughters. I have also changed my eating habits. I am here for support, encouragement and help/suggestions from people who are going through the same journey that I am going through. What better place to find that then MFP where everyone's goal is to lose weight and feel better about themselves. Please feel free to reply . I am looking forward to meeting my new MFP family!:blushing

I'd say one thing people also need to definitely take into consideration is what kind of music or energy they want from their music selections and what sort of exercise/event they're using the music for.

For example before I play basketball I'd like to get really hype way beyond a normal workout so I'd have a certain type of music there vs. not having too high of a tempo if I'm say on the elliptical keeping a steady slow pace for a long period of time as a high pace music might make me go quicker then usual thus not being able to stay on as long. So I'd say depending on what you're doing try and gauge it around that. I also notice that if there's songs I know well I tend to sing along to them, which prevents me from breathing correctly. Just a few things to take into consideration.

This is a great topic! I'm definitely stealing all of these suggestions. Here are a couple of my favourites for the exercise bike or walking:

    1. Back Against the Wall -- Cage the Elephant
    2. Cute Without the E -- Taking Back Sunday
    3. Liar -- Taking Back Sunday
    4. Shake It -- Metro Station
    5. Breaking -- Anberlin
    6. *Fin -- Anberlin (great song to finish off a workout with. It builds to really high intensity then gives you a little cool-off period at the end)
    7. We Didn't Start the Fire -- Billy Joel
    8. Decatur -- Sufjan Stevens
    9. Raphael -- Carla Bruni
    10. Cinderella -- Steven Curtis Chapman
    11. Hey Soul Sister -- Glee Version/Train, whatever floats your boat. I personally love the acappela backing for Glee's rendition, it gives it a cool vibe.
    12. Slow Down - The Academy Is...

I definitely agree with zacherybinx above. Choose the type of music that will get you the right amount of hyped. When I'm walking, I tend to favour faster pieces with a steady beat, but for biking I'd prefer something a little more relaxed.

This song is such a good pump up song - We No Speak Americano by Yolando Be Cool & DCUP
  • I'm old school...Heavy Metal & Rock-n-roll......I like Aerosmith, Ozzy, Van Halen, KISS, Judas Preist, Cheap Trick, etc.... good strong fast hard music....The newest bands I listen too are Buckcherry, Godsmack, and Metallica......The harder the music the harder I work out......But the best work out songs... Soundtracks from Dazed and Confused & Coyote Ugly......songs... Eye of the Tiger (Rocky)...Just something about that song makes you want to run up stairs as hard as you can and What a Feeling (Flashdance) makes me want to bust a move !!!!!LOL
