Does anyone own these shoes? I saw a magazine article on how great they are for running, and I'm looking to purchase them, but I want to know if they are worth the $ before I buy them.

Thanks!

I don't know anything about these shoes but personally, if you are willing to spend a good amount of money on shoes... get fitted first at a running shoe store.... this way you know what shoes are right for your feet...

Your best bet would be to go to a specialty running store and let them fit you properly. They're going to watch how you run (they're looking at your feet and lower legs, so don't be nervous). Everyone's feet move slightly differently, but generally you either have a neutral gait or you pronate(foot rolls inward) or supinate (foot rolls outward). You need to know how your foot moves before you can start picking out shoes, as the shoe will give the right support for your foot movement, arch height and your frame. The folks at the store will help you decide what type of shoe is best and then you'll try on several brands of that type to determine which fits you the best.

Asics is a good brand and I've always worn their shoes for running. But there are lots of other brands that might turn out to fit you better, so try not to get too excited about any particular brand or style of shoe before getting professionally fitted.

The right shoes will really help to protect you from injury.

Added: I just looked up the specific show you mentioned and it's meant for a neutral gait. It's a very lightweight shoe that's meant mainly for racing. ;)

I agree with the others - get fitted by the pros. Just this past Saturday, I went to our local specialty store - John's Run/Walk Shop and got fitted with some awesome New Balance shoes. They feel like they were made for my feet and walking is so much better now. Best of luck in finding your ideal shoes!

I pay 200 every year for my Ascics and I LOVE them... but everyone is right, go and get fitted. You can't go wrong with the brand, I tend to get shin splints but these have so much cushion and support, I think they are great!!! You need to spend on quality!
