Daily Step County into Activity

Options
Can anyone tell me how to convert and track my daily steps into an activity? I walked 14,734 yesterday and don't know how to get "credit" for it.. Also, if anyone could tell me how to add a ticker for my steps I would really appreciate it.

I have heard many times that you should not count your normal daily activities as part of your excersise. This is because it is already taken into consideration when you first start. I have been an active participant on MFP since Jan 4. I do not log my normal daily activities. I have lost almost 20 pounds so far. You can use your pedometer to figure out your normal average daily steps and then if you are way over on any given day, like taking kids to zoo and walking all around, then you could convert the extra.
There are many websites that you can use to help convert also:

    http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist4.htm
    http://www.prohealth.com/weightloss/tools/exercise/calculator1_2.cfm
    http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php

also try the guide that came with your pedometer it may have something in it.

Unless you are walking for exercise, you shouldn't log your normal daily activity as a cardio exercise for additional calories burned. MFP already takes your normal daily activity into account when calculating your goals, so logging this again is essential counting it twice.

However, if you want to track it for your own personal uses, you can create a strength training exercise called "Steps" and log the number of steps you take under "Reps". This won't affect the calorie calculations and will allow you to keep track of it.

Hmmm....O-K, but that stinks  Thanks though, what you said makes sense, and I think I will take your advise for tracking it. I still would like to know how to add a ticker that tracks steps, I've challenged myself to up my steps from my normal and need to track for my personal "rewards" (ie mani/pedi, facial, new walking shoes, etc.). Thanks again!

Can anyone tell me how to convert and track my daily steps into an activity? I walked 14,734 yesterday and don't know how to get "credit" for it.. Also, if anyone could tell me how to add a ticker for my steps I would really appreciate it.

To add a ticker, go to www.tickerfactory.com and follow the simple instructions to create your ticker. When it gives you a URL at the end, just copy it then come back to MFP to paste it into your signature box. Whenever you want to update it go back to tickerfactory and add your extra steps. No need to copy and paste it again each time, it should auto-update.
