MFP says that my Net Calorie Goal each day is 1200. Then it says net calories = calories consumed - calories used. My exercise goal is 150 calories per day. Does that mean I'm supposed to eat 1350 per day?
I assumed 1200 per day plus burn 150 per day. However, that isn't what the equation seems to say??

Once you add in your exercise it will tell you that youe "earned an extra X amount of caories" My understanding is that you can use those extra calories added to your 1200 daily calories. Say you earn 200 cal. then you add it to 1200 = you get to eat 1400 calories that day. That's what I do and so far I've lost 28 pounds.0

ok
1200 + (whatever you burned) = the amount of calories you should eat.
you need to eat the calories you've burned.
Which is awesome because more exercise = more food
I wouldn't try to decode anything. it's a simple equation to eating right and working out0 -

yes i agree and when you dont eat those calories your body trys to hold the energy or fat in your body. Its better to erat them because it refuels you))

Okay, thanks. That makes sense. I think.
I worked out this morning, burned 478. I've pre-planned 949 calories today. It says Goal: 1200 calories, Food: 949, Exercise: 478, Net: 471. But at the top it says 729 calories remaining. So, I get to eat 729 more calories?
What does the 471 mean.
Sorry, about all the questions, I just want to make sure I'm doing this right. I've dieted so often in the past and always ended up gaining more back than I lost. If I'm reading this right, I think I can actually stick with this. But I'm still a little confused about the "net" number.0 -
Got it. The "Net" number should be 1200 by the end of the day!0

that's it,
I forgot to keep an eye on the net number and it has really slowed down my weight loss,
You don't have to eat back every single calorie, but try and get close, as you go on, you will
find a balance that works for you as we are all individuals.
My personal target at the moment is to make sure i get my net over 1000 as I hadn't the week before
once I have got that sorted, I'll work at getting it closer to 1200.
The less you have to loose the more important the numbers can sometimes become.
good luck on your journey
