So who knows if there is a relation? I just went and got a full body massage yesterday and dropped almost a lb overnight. (Yesterday was not a good food day or exercise day for me at all). I was just interested on anyone else's knowledge about massage and weight loss. I did some reading and found some info "Massage therapy helps you with weight loss both physically and mentally. For the mind game, it releases endorphins which are the natural feel-good drugs in your body that elevate your spirit and mood. If you use massage as a reward to weight loss, you’ll feel better and be more motivated to continue your progress! Physically, therapeutic massage really increases your body’s metabolism, or the way that your body burns calories and gets rid of fat. Your circulation increases, toxins rid of the body, and you stress levels go down. All of these directly boost your body’s ability to lose weight. "but this was from a site advertising massage so I just wanted some more opinions.

Well either way, I got a full body massage and feel great plus I saw some numbers drop this morning! Have a great day everyone...and maybe go get yourself a massage!

I go to a massage therapist on a regular basis and I know that it has many benefits. What you mentioned regarding stress and metabolism are true and those both play into helping you with weight loss.

Hi, I am a massage therapist and registered nurse. The info in the ad you read is actually accurate. Wise of you to look at it skeptically though, advertisements can definitely claim ridiculous things. Massage also helps free the connective tissue that encases muscle tissue which aids in muscle development. Your massage therapist likely urged you to drink water following your massage to flush away toxins released during the session, and you may have noticed that you urinated more than usual in the hours following. Massage really gets the lymphatic system going and waste is drawn out from your soft tissue and removed from the body. Massage can be an excellent adjunct to diet and exercise in your fitness plan.

Wonderful! Thank You! It all makes complete sense to me but for some reason I had just never thought about it before now. It was a great treat for myself and I may have to do it more often than once a year now ;)

join you local Groupon.... I notice mine (Philadelphia area) offers tons of 50% off massage offers. Massage is awesome but can be an expensive habit!!! I often feel guilty as a therapist charging the going rate.

Good idea! I know there is a massage training school near where I live too and have heard good things about it and you can get an hour massage for about half the price as well. Thanks again.
