Hi all,

I am the mother of five (7yo, 6yo, 4yo, 2yo, and 12 week old). After neglecting myself for years I have started to finally take care of me! I am eating better, exercising in some form 6 days a week, and taking necessary supplements. I am a breastfeeding mom, so I am being careful to consume the calories both baby and I need.

I am on week 2 of the Couch to 5K program. I am loving it so far and enjoying how much better it makes me feel!

Holy Cow! You don't have a choice but to get fit & be healthy-- so that you can keep up and take care of the family. As we all know-- Mamas keep the family going.

I had 3, and can't quite wrap my mind around what it must be like to have 5 - and all under the age of 8!!! ::thud::

In the process of taking care of yourself you can be teaching your children about healthy food choices and the importance of exercise. Goodness knows that's an education too few get.

It can be really hard, especially as the kids get older, and their friends come over and complain (!) because you have fruit, nuts, crackers and peanut butter for snacks instead of Cheetos and candy, or when your kids go to another house and suddenly decide they want mac'n cheese 3 times a day for the next year. I quickly learned to make whatever food *I* considered our best option and if they didn't like it, tough noogies. Otherwise it gets out of control in a hurry.

And exercise is a whole other challenge, eh? You have your work cut out for you, but if you can handle 5 kids: YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!

Thanks everyone! ;-) Yes, keeping up with the kiddos is an exercise regiment in and of itself. lol I love it, though, and wouldn't have it any other way.

I am so happy to notice that my kids have started exercising along with me. It is amazing how they love to imitate when they are young. I know they won't be like this when they are older, so I just hope that they continue to bring these healthy habits into their older years.
