Okay what type of vitamins or supplements is anyone taking to aid in their weight loss journey?
How long have you been taking it? And do you feel a difference?

There are so many different supplments out there, I am wondering what I should take to aid in my weight loss journey, if any? Or should I just rely on my diet?

I take the 1 A Day gummies, they dont leave you belching that nasty vitamin taste, they are EASY to chew and swallow (not like those horse pills most vit's are), they are easy on your stomach, and fairly cheap. Yes, they are for adults, lol.

If you are eating a healthy diet you are more than likely getting all the nutrients you need. It is possible to overdo vitamins and get toxic levels. Not only that but they can interact with any medications you are on. I feel you dont need to take a vitamin/supplement unless suggestted by your doctor and here is an article that supports this.

I know its "aol health" but you can find other articles that say similar things

Generally tho, when you are eating at a deficit you wont be getting in those calories, unless your diet is EXTREMELY well balanced and you eat TONS of veggies. Its just impossible, when you are eating a deficit you are going to be deficit in more than just calories, so your nutrients included.

I take Nature made Multi daily with extra iron and calcium, I also take Natures bounty brand high potentency D-1000 IU (2 tablets) daily. The majorty of people are low in vitamin D.

I take a multi for women over 50 and Vit. D-3. I feel better since I've been on both of them. I used to be really tired all the time and uninterested in much. The D got me back to normal and the multi made me stop craving stuff so much. I used to crave sweet, then salty, then back to sweet and then sour! After a month on the multi I realized I wasn't craving things very often anymore and when I did, I could easily talk myself out of it!

I take a women's multivitamin. I don't take it to aid in my weight lose per se... but I use it to make sure I get everything my body needs so that i have the energy to go throughout my day and the energy to exercise.

    I take:

1 multivitamin to make sure that on a low-calorie diet that I'm still getting all my nutrients
2 Fiber capsules, for ... fiber haha
1 vitamin B complex for energy, metabolism, skin, and immune system
2 500mg vitamin c Chewables (1 in the morning and 1 at night) to help my immune system
    1 Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc/Vitamin D combo tablet for bones/muscle health
    1 tsp bee pollen
1 caplet of fish oil (good for heart health)

    and coming soon....Flax seed oil.

Yes, I have discussed these with my doctor and determined they are the best mix for me, in regards to what I need and want out of supplements, etc.

If you're going to start adding supplements (more than just a multivitamin) talk to your doctor to see what you really need, or better yet a Nutritionist. Most doctors only get 6 weeks of nutrition in medical school so unless your doctor is slightly on the alternative side a lot of times you'll know just as much about vitamins and supplements as he/she does if you've done your research.

A good resource for doing some research on various supplements is the AJCN, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. They publish studies on nutrition, all of them peer-edited scientific studies and research.

It seems like a lot but really I just portion them out into a little pill box thing for the week and I just take them in the morning when I eat breakfast (and a vitamin C chewy at night before bed)

Look into Juice Plus. What an amazing supplement! I've been on it for several months, before I started eating better, and WOW... what a difference. My husband starting taking this because of a heavy duty medical treatment he's undergoing for a virus in his blood. The treatment is really hard on his body - similar to chemo. However, Juice Plus has made a huge difference in him. I HIGHLY recommend this supplement. And I too take a daily vitamin and B12. Most vitamins (though not all) are water soluble, meaning what you don't use you eliminate. And with the way foods are processed and even harvested, most of the nutrients are lacking. Juice Plus is fruits and vegetables - that's it. Nothing weird, no fillers, just fruits and veggies. Look it up online. Take Juice Plus for a month and tell me you don't feel better! It's AWESOME STUFF!! And no, I really don't sell it! Good luck to you on your journey!
  • I take Mega Men Sport Vitapak program for active men from GNC. Has all the vitamins you need and little extra to help burn more calories. I also take Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 also from GNC. i use this after work outs so I am not so sore the next day. They all have been working for me.

I am curious why you chose the chewable vitamin C pills over the swallowable ones... did your doctor recommend those? my dentist said that the vitamin C will eat the enamel right off your teeth.

I take a number of vitamins...roughly up to 15 a day...I could not go without them now...When I take them I only notice I am not tired, when I don't take them I get colds easier, get sleepy, and am overall less energetic...

I am monitored to make sure they all work right and I am not taking too many or too few by my internal medicine specialist, my nutritionist, and the company I purchase them from..Life Extension...

Honestly as I said I would not be able to live without them anymore...They make a huge difference in my health an energy level.

    Bio-Curcumin
    Black Cohosh
    8 Multivitamins
    Vitamin C
    Vitamin D-3
    Vitamin B Complex
    Estrogen
    Omega 3
    Kyolic for Digestion
    CoQ-10

My specific cocktail is for cancer prevention, menopause, and weight loss and I do not take all of them every day...The days alternate...The only real issue I have...I hate swallowing pills but I have a mortar and pestle to crush them.

    Anyway...Hope this helps some...Good Luck.

well I guess I eat a very well balanced diet then because (even on "bad" days) if I put my diet log into another site that gives you a full report of all vitiamins and minerals I am rarely deficient in any of them. Definatley not deficient enough for extended periods of time to warrant me taking something I don't need.

I just like the chewable ones better, plus they are 500mg of Vitamin C each, so I only need one in the morning and 1 at night. It's hard to find Vitamin C pills that are 500 mg, which is the most your body can process at one time. Your body can only process Vitamin C for 12 hours at a time, before it disposes of any excess. Thus, the 500 mg 2x a day. :)
