Anyone tried a detox or cleanse diet ? I have been doing research and am wondering if any 'myfitnesspal' users have any feedback or suggestions.

I don't know if it counts, but I did frutarian as kind of a detox, but to my surprise nothing happened.. must've been clean. Enjoyed the fruit though!0

I've heard good things about Herbalife detox and cleanse.... it is for the liver and colon.0

I've done the lemonade diet before - (water, fresh squeezed lemon, pure maple syrup, cayenne pepper) It was pretty awful, but I know people who swear by it and do it every year. You have to tough it out (7 to 10 days) before it works, but it's a good way to cleanse and shrink your stomach. It's based on the creator's "ideal" diet which is to start a vegan lifestyle as a result.
I was pleased with it the first time I did it. The second time, I got really sick, vomited all day on day 2 or 3 and decided that patience, eating healthy and exercising is the best cleanse for me! Good look!0 -
I detox and cleanse about three times a year, more when I feel a need for it.
When I detox I abstain from eating all foods and instead juice my own fruit and vegetable juices, which I drink a lot of. I also consume detox teas like dandelion, milk thistle and burdock to cleanse and heal the kidneys, liver, pancreas and gallbladder.
Other deep cleanse ingredients include spirulina, chlorophyll, and wheat grass. You can google these for more information.
I often detox for 24 hours, usually once every couple weeks. Other times, when I'm ill or plagued with toxins and dis-ease, I detox for 3, 7, 10, 20 and 30 days. Of course the detox then becomes a deep cleanse.
Detox and cleanse is not to be confused with water fasting, though water fasting is a form of intense detox and deep tissue cleansing.
Detox and cleanse of less than 10 days merely rids the body of impurities. Detox and cleanse of greater than 10 days heals most illness and dis-ease including gastritis, colitis, IBS and fibromyalgia. Anyone suffering from kidney disease should not detox or cleanse deeply for more than 10 days while the disease is active.
Symptoms you can expect to encounter during detox and cleanse are headache, runny nose, cold and flu-like symptoms, chills, aches, fever, backache, irritability, etc. These usually pass between the third and fifth day. Likewise, hunger symptoms usually disappear after 3 days.
People with diabetes or low blood pressure should never detox or cleanse without a doctor's supervision as blood sugar levels are greatly affected during these times.

Detoxes and cleanses are complete and utter bunk. Anyone who tried to sell you on a detox suppliment is a snake oil seller. It pains me that people are so uncomfortable with their body and what they put into it and so unknowledgeble about how biologly works that they believe these diets. Your body is a wonderful creation and capable of detoxing itself- your liver and kidneys are GREAT at this. People need to quit discounting their organs natural function. No things don't "hand around for years" in the colon and need to be "cleansed" out- if there were things hanging around in there they'd have festerd long before that and put you in the hospital!
Don't fall for these scams. Eat healthy, excersize and drink pleanty of water- this lifetime regimine is the BEST DETOX DIET EVER. Anything else, any magic pills, suppliments, detoxes and cleanses are all scams and snake oil.0
