lemon is a diuretic...so it helps the body lose excess water.......cold water is actually better because the body has to burn calories to warm it to body temperature to use for hydration........I drink a gallon of water a day, and that seems to do the trick without the lemon. I drink 64 oz. in the morning and then again in the afternoon.what I drink after I workout is extra..hope this helps :)

Its a really good idea to drink lemon and hot water in the morning. It can help suppress your appetite, which could lead to some weight loss, but it really does have amazing health benefits. The vitamins and minerals in the lemon somehow make the water twice as hydrating as your system and it also clears (sorry for being gross!) the mucus that could build up in your respiratory system as you were sleeping. Its really healthy! I love to soak half a lemon in hot water, drink the water and then eat the diluted lemon, rind and all, when its gotten soft. Lemons and lemon rinds have a lot of nutrient and antioxidants.

Lemons have an ellagic acid which prevents cancer and it alkalines your body to fight off the flu, infections and viruses. It does wonders for you!

I used to add lemons to my water all the time but just for flavor. But I'm going to start again if its that beneficial. I had a cold months ago but still seem to have after-effects with the whole mucus thing.

The lemon juice should be mixed with the hot water for full effect, and preferably drank once in the morning before your day starts, then you should drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Lemon juice aids your liver in flushing out unwanted toxins which may be in the process of absorbing into your body. The lemon juice detox process should be a daily, recurring event for you, preferably on a continuous basis.

The great thing about the lemon juice detoxification is the ease. There are only three ingredients to it, and it can be made very quickly in the morning, as a substitute for your morning tea or coffee. If you are worried that substituting your morning coffee will leave you with no energy for the day, take a look at the many different high energy foods which you could incorporate into your daily diet.

    **my words now**

Ive done this and yes if I do this first thing before eating anything else it does seem to help with cravings and such.

    Me, too.

According to the "Eat Right For Your Type" plan, this is how I'm "supposed" to start off my day. I'm a huge coffee fan, but find a mug of hot water very satisfying as well (better than most herbal teas IMO), and sometimes I float a disk of ginger and a slice of lemon in it.

Funny reading this topic ... I just happen to bring a lemon with me to work today to add to my water so it was not just plain water!

    I love lemons....

I read about this as part of a natural detox. Suppose to help flush you out! And it is supposed to be hot water but I'm not sure why.

I have heard that lemon water helps curb your appetite so you get less cravings. I usually put lemon in my water bottle that drink on my way to work. I do seem to feel less hungry as the day goes on compared to no water in the morning. Even if it doesn't have as many benefits as they say, it tastes good!
