Timex personal trainer HRM question

i researched and was told this was a pretty good calorie reader. although, today i used it for the first time while jogging today. i jogged for 40 mins with 5 mins cool down. treadmill readout was 495, HRM readout was 910. my pulse rate was an average of 150 - 165 for the jog. anyways since it is so far off from the readout i was wanting some feedback?

mine can be a bit wonky too - especially with interference with other HRM equipment (ie. treadmills and such).
My suggestion would be to try a jog outside (if the weather is decent) try for the same pace and time, and see how much you burn.
I think rule of thumb, HRM is much more accurate than a cardio machine, but thats a big delta.
also - make sure that you inputted your proper age, weight, etc - if that's not done, it could be off as well.0 -
I posted a similiar question on here a few weeks ago when I bought the same watch. I was switching from a HRM that did not have a strap. Most people repiled that it was trustworty but then I got an email from some one telling me the Timex HRM were crap and way off. I was so bummed. You can't return them. Last week I was down 1.5 lbs using it but I never ate all the calories burned. I think you just need to test it and see how its working for you. If you are not losing weight then adjust your eating.0

Treadmills and elliptical machines are often calibrated for an average weight of about 150 lb. If you don't adjust it at the beginning of your workout, the calories burned will be for a 150-pound person.0

I have this one too. I use it for Zumba class and working on the elliptical. When I did the elliptical before I had it, it showed I was burning about 100 calories total for my whole 10 minutes that I could actually survive on it. The HRM gave me a reading of about 450. I KNOW the 100 was way too low, but I felt that 450 was too high. I entered it in MFP and it was right in the middle, so I am pulling all the numbers and going from that. However, when I do Zumba, I know that I am burning more than the MFP "dancing" exercise rate. So I take a number about halfway between MFP and the HRM.
You also have to subtract your resting calories burned from the total on the HRM because it counts those too.0 -
I have a Timex HRM also and it said I burned 1300 calories for a hour of 30 Day Shred, elliptical and stationery bike. I'm pretty sure that was way high. My heart rate was between 140 and 175. MFP calculated it around 500 calories0
