Who is one person, besides yourself, that you would say is your biggest inspiration for getting healthier?

For me, it is my 9 year old son.

My sister. She died at age 20 from a heart attack 6 years ago. I don't want to live in fear of dying every day.
  • It may sound silly but my puppies. I want to be able to take them on long walks without needing to turn around so soon.

My family medical history. Have been doing genealogy research for the past 7 years but, for the past 2 years, also medical genealogy. There's enough who died from cardiovascular type diseases to shock the sox off anyone. I flatly refuse to allow any $$$-hungry chest cutter (cardio-thoracic surgeon), cut this chest open and mess around with arteries and veins.

If anyone is interested in a very graphic description of an obese person's heart, please feel free to send me an e-message.

    :)

Honestly I am making sure that I am not doing it for anyone other than myself.
It is the only way that I have been successful this time around at this point in my life.

However, that being said, my MFP friends have truly inspired me recently now that I've gotten started.

My big brother. He died at the age of 31 from Pancreatic Cancer. I was holding his hand when he took his last breath. He fought so hard to live, how can I continue to take my health for granted? Last weekend, I celebrated my 32nd birthday...he never got to turn 32. So, if for whatever reason God still needs me on this Earth than I need to be the best me I can be.
  • Is it bad to say I'm doing it for myself? I dont have any kids and and heart desease isnt something that runs in my family, neither is diabetes or other weight related problems. I'm doing this because I want to feel confident, happy and proud of my body like I used to and just improve on my overall health.
  • My almost 16 yr old daugther Jessica.
She was diagnosed with diabeties five years ago last month.
