Running Shoes

Does any one have any suggestions on the best running shoes? I had been running on a treadmill which never bothered me. But not that I've started going to the park my chins are killing me from running on the concrete. I need some shoes that are going to protect my legs from the this sort of thing.
Thanks so much Lynz..

My husband is a runner and agrees-mizunos are the best!0 -
I don't know about fancy running shoes, I wear my Adidas Sambas and they feel right.0

I am currently running in Asics and love them, but I am also a fan of Saucony. I hear Brooks are some of the best but are a little more $$$.0

Hi, I went to a actual store that specializes in fitting runners feet. I invested in a shoe called Brooks. Best shoes for me they are very comfortable and give me the support I need to run. It is worth it to find a store like this. Good Luck.0

I did the same thing...so worth it!! They look at your foot, have you walk and then run on the treadmill for a couple of minutes and videotape your feet to see what kind of sneaker you need. I also ended up with Brooks and my feet feel so much better. I would look into finding a local specialty running store that has this service.0 -
I love Asics. They are also quite affordable. I got my recent pair for 40 bucks, previous one was about 100 but it was the latest model. New Balance is okay but I don't find them as cushiony.
I find them comfortable on outdoor or indoor surfaces, however, I try to avoid running on pavement or concrete whenever possible. It's just rough on the joints overall. We have some dirt and wooden chip paths near our house so once I start running outdoors again that is where I will be headed.0 -
Asics Nimbus or Asics Kayano0

I loved my mizunos too. Brooks are what I have now and they were killer too!
I would highly recommend getting sized by someone that does sports shoes.0 -

I agree - I was having issues and getting pain in my feet and knees. Went to a specialist running store and got their advice. They recommended Asics for me - and they have worked great. But they had me try on lots of different pairs of various brands before that and watched how I walked/ran in them to make sure i was getting the correct support from the shoe.

Ditto. Definitely go to a store and get fitted! I did that a few years ago and found asics to be the best for my foot. I had tried a pair of saucony once and they really hurt my feet so I had to switch back to asics. It definitely depends on your feet and the running stores are the best places to find out what works best for you.0 -
I strongly agree w/ PP re proper shoe fitting at a proper running shoe store. Shin splints are indicative of improper shoes/worn out shoes/overtraining. Make sure not to increase more than 10% per day or more than 10% per week. Injuries are part of running, but many can be avoided with proper shoes/technique.0

Definitly go and get fitted at a running store. It may cost a tiny bit more but they will watch you run either on a treadmill or sidewalk and can tell which shoes will fit you best. It will be worth it!0
