I'm normally the one that gives the motivation, not the one that needs it. I've lost weight before & have it plateau's of course, but never this bad. Since I started my weight loss journey in early Jan., I've lost on avg. 2 # a week consistantly for 7 wks. Then 3 wks ago I stopped losing. I've tried changing my workouts, I'm not doing an hour of elliptical, just half & then 23 min. of circuit training so I am not burning as much so I decreased my cal. by maybe 2/300 and it's still not working. I'm ready to give up here! I'm 3 weeks behind my goal. There's nothing in my daily routine that's different, no more stress than usual. I'm not willing to go extreme & cut meat or anything out of my diet or do a cleanse. I'm burning more than I take in & I am certainly eating enough. I need advice!

If you open up your diary, I can take a look.
  • Maybe you're building muscle...muscle weighs more than fat...if that is the case then you need to measure yourself rather than reading the scale all the time. Try measurements for a while see what happens.

I hit a plateau after I lost the first 30 pounds then 3 weeks later the scale started moving again. sometimes your body just needs time to adjust to the weightloss you have had so far. Keep doing what your doing and it will start moving again, you body is just resetting! Good luck and hang in there!

True, muscle is more dense than fat (ignoring the one pound of muscle weighs the same as one pound of fat argument). However, to build up a couple of pounds of muscle takes a lot longer than it does to lose a couple of pounds of fat.

My advise would be to carry on what you are doing. You will probably find that you drop a good couple of pounds in a few weeks time. In the mean time, try mixing up your training regime a little. Do something totally different - if you are used to the elliptical, then go for a run. Hell, do something totally different, find a dry ski slope near you and learn to ski! That's bloody good exercise.

The weight loss will pick up again, it may just be a case of waiting this one out I'm afraid :-(
