Have you ever been checked for asthma? Maybe you need an inhaler.

I had bronchitis and had the same thing. Get to a dr and get some meds. My dr also told me no cardio until the cough subsides. Try some yoga/pilates instead. Health first!

Sounds like asthma. I was bike riding today and had a cough attack from breathing so hard in the dry air. OUCH!

oh could definitely be the dog! they really set me off. maybe some benedryl or other antihistamine might help.

You may need more than just a rescue inhaler. Not long after I started running my asthma worsened to the point that I am now on twice daily inhaled steroid meds. I was also coughing at night, which was my final straw.

Take asthma seriously. It's nothing to mess with and can be fatal if not managed well.

Sounds like an exercise induced asthma or an allergy. Have you had allergy testing done? My sister (at 50) suddenly became highly allergic to dogs. We were so confused at first and couldn't figure out the problem. She can't be around the animal fur/dander at all. I would say that you need to see a doctor. As for the coughing....try to suck on ice cubes when you get a coughing episode...it helps calm things down. good luck!

if its been like that for more than a few weeks go get checked out(asap),stay away from mucus forming food like milk, choc, sugars and cheese..(I work in medical field,,hehe)delsum is also good. When you exercising you are moving things around causing a flare up

I would check with your doctor to make sure it is your asthma causing this, or if it is something else. I had something similar (although I don't have asthma), and I waited to see the doctor until I got quite sick and started coughing up blood. I had pneumonia in both lungs, the right one with complete profusion. It took a long time to get over that. I am not saying you have that, but there are a bunch of respiratory things it could be, and if it is something that medication could help or worse yet, which would get worse and even perhaps life threatening without treatment, you want to at the ever least eliminate that.

Oh, the basic rule is that if your symptoms are above the neck you can keep working out, if they are below the neck you shouldn't because you will do more harm than good.

Finally, you can lose weight without exercising. The vast majority (70-90%) of your progress in weight loss will be because of diet, only 10-20% because of exercise. So don't feel guilty that you can't exercise right now because of health. See your doctor, he might even have something that can help.
