Have a can of Hormel Vegetarian Chili I have heated up and didn't realize until now that 1 cup has 190 calories! Yikes.
Anyway, any suggestions on what do add this to for a healthy filling meal? Search didn't yield any results for me (search here doesn't work the best IMHO)

Thank you

When my husband and I were on a low carb diet- we always did canned chili over turkey hot dogs- no bun for my husband and I, a bun for our son. Then I served a bid salad before dinner and sometimes some sweet potato fries.

I buy the 98% fat free turkey chili by Hormel. I only like to have it once and a while. Here's what I do...I take 3 cups of mixed green salad, I heat up 1 serving of the chili, pour that over the salad. I usually top it with 1/8 cup of reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese and I crush half a serving of multi-grain chips and sprinkle them over the whole thing. Very easy to make, leaves you feeling nice and full and it's really low in calories for the whole meal.

    It's so yummy!
    Enjoy!

Add some rice, and maybe some extra no salt added beans, and frozen corn? (I'm a basic kinda girl haha..)
If that's too many carbs, how about a lean protein.. You could always do 1/2 a c on a fat free hot dog..

    I would do this.
On a plus note, chili is VERY filling so well worth the calories in my opinion because it keeps me full longer.

That is exactly what I made. I couldn't even eat all of it so filling. I should have paid more attention to the amount of sodium in 1 cup of that chili though! 1230mg!! With that and the cheese, plus my 269mg of sodium for breakfast, I already have 0 left in sodium for the day!! It is only 1:30pm! Maybe I need to up my sodium level- is 1700 too low?

I add chopped chicken brest (like Oscar Meyer) and microwave. Top it off with some fat-free or reduced fat cheddar cheese. Very good.
