Medical Disorders

So here is my deal. My body loves weight. I have been on a diet constantly for literally my entire life (since 3rd grade). Losing weight is like a joke to me at this point. I cannot tell you the numerous ways I have tried to lose and maintain my weight.
Doctors have even questioned my inability to lose weight, suggesting I get blood tests and go to specialist b/c the effort I put in does not match up with the results (or lack there of).
I went to an endocrinologist and the doctor told me, sorry there is nothing wrong with your thyroid you just have the slowest metabolism ever.
At the time I was running at least 6 miles a day and consuming 1200 (recorded) calories daily and I was still unable to lose weight.
In addition I can never poop. ever! My doctor told me I should take miralax everyday and I do along with other kinds of laxatives but I still get constipated.

Basically my body is not functioning normally. Does anyone know of any medical disorders that prevent weight loss?

Thanks!

I don't know of any that completely prevent weight loss.... but there are plenty that make it much more difficult.

PCOS, Hypothyroidism, or being insulin resistant are examples.

I would normally think the amount of exercise you are doing (6mile runs) and only eating 1200 calories (very little for this amount of exercise) would be the cause... but you have been seeking professional guidance. Have you thought of seeing a dietician?? They can't really diagnose any medical issues you have, but perhaps they can help you figure out a plan that suits your needs better. Sometimes doctors that don't specialize in nutrition, don't understand it very well. Before I moved here, my old GP kept telling me I was eating too much and I needed to eat less to lose weight, but not once did he ever ask me what or how much I ate. I eventually pushed for a dietician referral as I was down to a small salad a day (thanks to my stupid GP) and she told me I was eating too little after having me record my food for a few days. I advised my GP of this.. who called me a liar lol but I took the dieticians advice anyways and sure enough I started losing.

I think if I ran 6 miles a day I would not lose weight on 1200 calories.
It's not enough to sustain my body.
I spent years eating few calories and it meant I stopped as I was.
    I'd say eat more .
    Be careful

Every one can loose weight. There is no way around the basic laws of thermodynamics.

But, some people have to work really hard to do it. If I may make a suggestion, research your body type, endo ecto or mesomorph then maybe you could get an idea of what works for you.

I'm lucky, I have good genetics so its not really how much I eat but what I eat.

Professional opinion here--You're not eating enough. Chronic dieting actually slows the metabolism. I would recommend looking at your individual needs and adjusting your calorie intake up to meet your needs for a few weeks. After a month or two, then you can cut a little from your calorie intake, but you have to eat at least 80% of your calorie needs so you don't slow the metabolism again. I'd also recommend adding weight training if your workouts are only running now. Weight training increases metabolism so that you can burn more fat from your exercise. If you want to PM me, I'll be glad to help you redesign your plan.

    Hello,
I have been in your boat... and finally got out! I was convinced I was a weight loss failure. I even went so far to see an obesity specialist... he could not explain why I couldn't lose weight. I was following WW at the time and he lowered my points down to the minimum and I gained weight! I was convinced I couldn't lose weight that I was going to be fat forever. I was active, nordic walking and working out with a personal trainer and gained 17 lbs!
Just after Christmas I rededicated myself and have slowly lost 20 lbs. If I can do so can you!
You need to eat more, eat your minimum cals and take a big bite out of your exercise cals and the weight will start coming off.
Friend me if you wish. I really want you to succeed. I will help you in any way that I can.
