If you go to some gyms, or nutritionists, they can do a pinch test, which involves basically pinching the fat on different parts of your body, measuring how much they're able to pinch, and calculating your body fat %. The easier way to do it, is to get a body composition monitor/scale which uses very low power electrical pulses and measures the resistance of your body. You can find them for as little as $60, and make a great replacement for a bathroom scale. They'll typically also tell you your muscle mass %, water %, and bone %, as well as giving you a recommended caloric intake for the day. The calorie recommendation can usually be ignored.0

You'll probably have to use a certain apparatus to measure your body fat. There are pinch tests, and there are hand-held devices that can measure your body fat percentage (I've seen them for sale at Office Max - weird!). To be the most accurate, Bod Pod testing is recommended. Some gyms have them and a certified trainer can do your Bod Pod measurements for a small fee. At my gym, it's a $10 fee. It also tells you your BMR and lean muscle mass percentage.0
