Water Retention Observation?

Ok so I was starting to think that I don't retain water. I never lost an excessive amount of "water weight" in the beginning of my journey. The weight loss has been consistent week after week. Then I started to lower my sodium intake hoping this would get rid of this water weight. It didn't change anything. Also every time I've ever gone to a doctor or donated blood, my blood pressure was always normal, so I'm thinking sodium doesn't effect me too much.

I started noticing in the past month I've been frequently going to the bathroom. More water consumption = more bathroom time. Right? Makes sense. But what didn't make sense was me having to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. In the past 2 weeks I would get up TWICE in the middle of the night. All that for 8 cups of water? It didn't add up.

So this week I was really sick. Started on Tuesday night. Wednesday I was able to eat and drink a little bit close to my calorie goal, but Thursday I took a turn for the worse, unable to consume much except crackers and no water. Even with no water for 24 hours I was still going to the bathroom frequently (insert scratching my head motion). Well Friday came and I weighed myself in the morning and I had lost 5.5 pounds. I also noticed I didn't "run" to the bathroom every 2 hours yesterday or today.

So I was retaining water to some degree, but it took a day of not drinking water to release it (not that I did it on purpose nor do I recommend it). Has anyone experienced this, or something like it?

I read somewhere that when you are melting fat, it also releases toxins in your body and makes your immune system have to work harder. I believe it, because until now I rarely get sick. But I was sick for a week in dec, and 3 weeks in Jan, and I was sick for a couple of days this month. So I am working on boosting my immunity now. The toxins may be making your body hold on to the water. I am still learning about this, but I find it very interesting. I met other people on this site that have experienced the same thin.
  • Interesting because I was just sick for 2 weeks and it seems like I was sick in January, too!
