Ok I need advice. . . if you look at my diary for Saturday and my exercise I burned triiple what I consumed. I woke up this morning and weighed myself on my new scale. It said I weighed 167.2 So that means I GAINED like a 1.5 pounds. I then have some water and I drink a grande black coffee from Starbucks. I weigh myself again on my sisters scale and it said I weigh 165.8 . . . then I try my scale again and it says I weight 164.2 and I have 49.7 THW and 28.8% body fat. My scale is from Target its a Taylor and its the one that you set your age, gender, height and it tells your body fat and water estimation.
What weight should I use? I obviously used the lowest weight when I weigheed intoday.

Just pick one and use it consistenly. I have the same issue. The "official" scale I use at work is about 3lbs higher than mine at home. I know mine is right becuase I weighed some dumbells on it, but I already started with the other one so I've stuck with it.0

I think the coffee may have something to do with weight fluctuation...of course I could be wrong but I stopped drinking coffee and pop and actually LOST 2pounds in the past....some scales are calibrated differently than others and I think the newer scales are calibrated to show MORE weight than older models because the model weight changes so often!!! I wish you the very best of luck in your endeavor to lose weight....may we all have a thinner and healthier 2011 and years beyond!!!!

I've had scales like that in the past too! I finally gotten one that seems very reliable.
I have really found the Weight Watchers digital scale to be very (unfortunately sometimes) accurate no matter where I put it. It also is the first scale that weighed me the same as the Dr.s office, which always weighed me heavier than my home scale. I guess that's a good thing (no cringing at the Dr). It does not change at all (unless you weigh yourself before and after eating, using the rest room...). You can step on in 10 times in a row and it will still register the same.
I found it at Costco and I really like it. Measures to the .10 pound. No fancy bells and whistles (bmi, talking...), just accurate numbers. It's the second one I've owned only because the first one broke when someone accidentally dropped it (it's glass, didn't shatter into a million pieces, the digital part stopped working if I remember correctly).0 -
I wouldn't worry about any of that, I only weigh myself once or twice a week because we do fluctuate! Pick whatever one you want if it's a weigh-in day for you, but then forget about it. The scale is a tool, not a judge. That's my philosophy!
You're doing great! Way to burn those calories!!!0 -
I would use the same scale you've already been using for previous weigh-ins.
However, if this is a new scale, and it's the one you intend to use from now on, you should go by that one. But make a note that it's a different scale so you don't get discouraged. It may be weighing you heavy.
This happened to me. I kept my old scale and noted the differences in weight until I was comfortable only logging my weight from the new scale.0 -
Always use the same scales to weigh on. Don't go messing yourself up by measuring against someone elses. They are all going to be different. It is our nature to want to take the smallest one! Always weigh at approximately the same time of day. And yes, intake as well as outgo makes a difference. So unless you didn't relieve your self between the first and last weighing on YOUR scales, they may not be working correctly. But be consistent for a bit and see if you can get a pattern established that makes more sense to you. Also you might not want to weigh daily, but weekly. In this battle the only thing you want to take seriously, is your health.0

I had that problem as well, but I was actually getting on it, not believing my eyes, getting RIGHT BACK ON IT and gaining 4 pounds WTF??? I could step off and on again and be different every time. I tried changing the batteries but it just didn't work anymore so I tossed it and invested in another scale.
The new scale stays the same lol... your weight will fluctuate during the day and it may have been higher due to the working out if you were doing muscle work later in the day the previous day. Now I weigh right after I use the bathroom in the morning in my birthday suit, it'll be at it's lowest then and most accurate to do it at the same time of day.0 -
thanks everyone. idk what the deal is w/ the scale but i got on this morning and it said i weighed an extra 2 pounds. so i got on my sisters scale which is the one ive been using and said i was 2 pounds under where i figured i would be. so i am taking this scale back today. what a waste of money.0
