I've just been sitting here reading back through my food diary and looking at the weights I've entered along the way. It went so fast at first! Since the end of December though, man, I've only lost about 7 pounds in 3 months!!!! I know I was plateau bound for a couple of those weeks, but it just seems like I am tracking by ounces now and not pounds lost. I know I have several things working against me like age, stress, and just being used to a routine. I've tried changing up the exercise and calorie zig zagging, and it is still the same. I'm not giving up, I'm going t see this through to my goal! Even if it takes me another year, or two, or ..... Any suggestions would be most welcome. Have a lovely day!

I assume you have adjusted your calorie intake adjusting for the 50 lbs you already lost? I do mine every 10 lbs. also maybe change your type of exercise to attack a different set of muscles?? I'm new and no expert....

We are the same age. My weight from moment one has been inching and dragging off. My fitness level is literally inching up. It is so discouraging I cannot begin to express it. However, I'm going to do what I can to improve this everyday for the rest of my life. I am assuming it is going to be one of those "oh my gosh" moments and the mucscle will just start to build and the fat will just start to dissolve. I cannot be the only woman in the universe not to be able to lose weight.

I would definitely adjust your calories. I had mine set for 1lb a week. I adjusted manually to now be 0.7 lbs a week. I can eat more calories now (not just 1200) and as long as I exercise at least 2-3 times a week I'm still dropping at least 1 lb a week.
  • I am having the same trouble, I lose weight slowly. I lose about .5 pound at a time, which is frustrating as I watch other lose 2-3 pounds doing the same things I am. They only thing that seems to take the weight off faster is swimming, even just playing in a pool or lake with my kids. But it is winter so I am just working out in my living room. At least my clothes fit better so that is something. Hang in there, keep active. The weight will stay off easier for those of us who lose slowly!!

Well I'm older (just turned 50) and have always been a "slow" loser when it comes to weight loss. I experience the loss of inches with exercise but the scale moves ounce by ounce. I find it may not go down for a few weeks then drops 3-4 pounds. It's like I lose at intervals rather than steadily. My solution for myself is to persevere with the calorie and nutrition tracking and exercise and not weigh my self but every 2-3 weeks. That way I don't get stuck on the number but focus on how I feel instead. I find tracking my sugar and sodium intake is very important. My body's reaction to excess sugar is not good. By keeping sugar intake in check I have better success.

Stick with your plan but look at what you've been eating, measure your portions and weigh your food for awhile, and change your exercise routine (maybe add more strength training?). Good luck! If you need a friend that will be on this site for a long time to come friend me:happy:

Hi nice to know theres' people around my age. You can add if you'd like. For me more cardio seems to work when my weight plateaus.
Also i'm taking a class called "NewBody" which is stepping with mini weights, kneelifts, some squats etc. It varies with the program which is introduced. . I'm finding this helps me a great deal. The NewBody class is held at Goodlift Fitness gym and they have everything there. You'll be fine. Also don't forget to eat a good breakfast with a bit of protein and fibre. This will carry you through the am's. Believe you me I know what it is like to slow down when things get out of whack in our everyday lives. You might want to pick up a tape or two and work with weights. I usually use 2 lb weights and that's all you really need.
Cheers for a successfull fitness journey.

Yes, I agree that you should adjust your calorie intake! For every 10 lbs you lose you daily intake should drop about 50 calories or so, depending on the defecit you set for yourself. I didn't look at your food diary, but are you eating atleast 5 servings of fruits and veggies and 2 servings of dairy? I read in the Biggest Loser book that for every meal and snack you should be eating a serving of fruit or veggie AND a serving of protein! The protein can be meat, fish, egg, milk, cheese stick, or another high protein dairy! Also, if you're not doing it already, try cutting out all processed foods and eat only fresh natural whole foods like fruits, veggies, meats, and minimally processed dairy! Try it for a week a see what your results will be! :) Good luck and keep going!

I'm confused what you mean by this? Do I need to set new goals or how do I do this?

My calorie intake for my weight gain loss was based on my original weight and metabolic rate. When I went back into the tools menu it allowed me to reset all that original information and adjusted my calorie allowance down from 1280 to 1250 a day. Otherwaise I assume your weight loss rate would decrease over time.

It must be something about the 50 pound mark! My loss has slowed to a stop. Could be a mental thing... I dunno. I tried going lower on the cals, tried more cardio, different cardio, tried not doing anything, and still nothing. I am thinking about trying a couple weeks at maintenance and then going back down, but am afraid that I will just pack on the pounds I already lost. Any suggestions would be appreciated here too!
