When I first started to use this site(app), it said I should have around 2500 cal intake a day. I felt that was way too high and brought it down to around 2000 a day. Should I listen to the site or just stick with my number?

Generally it's best to stick with the calculations MFP gives you to start with. You may need some tweaking at some point, but MFP's typically works pretty well to get you started. MFP uses a pretty accurate BMR estimator (go to Tools), and includes your daily activity, then creates a built in deficit. As long as you've entered your info correctly, and are being accurate with intake and burns, you should do well. MFP is pretty successful.

Here are a couple of threads that explain how MFP works and can help determine healthy, reasonable goals/deficits. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much for the answer, I think I am going to bump it up to 2300 because i have a habit of snaking everyday and not writing it down so there will be some space for that.
