Frustrated...oh and I'm new here!

So frustrated! I'm going away in 6 weeks with my size 0 friend and have been trying everything to lose weight. I run 3-4 times a week (usually 3-4mile runs) and lift weight 1-2 times a week for an hour. I eat around 1200 calories daily (except Sat & Sun I tend to cheat) and have not lost 1 pound yet! I am so frustrated it's not funny! I have this stomach pouch this repulses me- I never had that before!
I had this boyfriend for 2 months during holiday season and he would take me out to eat 3 times a week. We broke up in January and since then I can't get rid of the damn weight I put on while I was with him and from the Christmas season.
Sorry, I just needed to vent. Do you know how hard it is to work out every single day, while being hungry and missing all the yummy fattening food I used to eat and not lose 1 pound?!?
Yes, my muscles are more defined and I'm stronger but my clothes don't fit any loser....
Anyone else have these problems?
Oh, HI- I'm Tiffany and I"m new here

What are you eating on the weekends? I know sometime on Saturdays, I have one cheat meal but I only cheat for 1 meal and not the whole day. Don't give up, it's slow at first but the weight will come off.0

You're probably not eating enough. If you're exercising that much and only consuming 1200 calories a day, you should probably try eating 200-300 more calories a day more. Plus, try taking measurements. The scale doesn't differentiate between a pound of fat and a pound of muscle. You could be gaining a bot of muscle while losing fat, which, if you're seeing more muscular definition yet not seeing movement on the scale, might be what's happening.0

How much are you looking to lose? You may need to up your calories. I lost weight being right over 1200 calories per day then got stuck so had to up my calories to a little over 1400 and am slimming and losing weight again. Also, are you getting your heart rate up enough? I thought I was then got a heart rate monitor and realized I wasn't. Now I am pushing harder and seeing better results.0

Being hungry is part of the problem. You arent eating ENOUGH. If your hungry your body holds on to fat since it doesnt know your not eating on purpose. It only knows its not sure when it next food is coming so it's not about to give up any to weight loss. You need to eat every few hours, even if your NOT hungry.
Once your body starts to realize that getting food isn't an issue, it will stop retaining fat for energy. That will boost your metabolism, plus if your working out you need to eat at least SOME of the calories back so your body doesnt go into starvation mode as well
Plus water. lots & lots of water. Try it for a week & see what happens.
BTW you can eat a little of the "yummy fattening food" as long as its a small amount. Log it in & make sure you dont overdue. You wont stick to a weight loss plan if you feel deprived all the time.0 -

Usually on weekends I'll have a few beers and have a little extra helpings. Nothing too crazy0 -

The thing I love about MyFitnessPal is that I can enter my gym time in and my daily calories count with that adjustment. So if I run 400 calories off I'll eat a little more to still have 1200 calories a day. Is that good to do or should I be eating more still?0 -
Hello, Try changing up your workout routine even just a different type of cardio can help just mix it up and do something your body isn't already used to. Good luck and I hope you have fun on your trip!!!0

I'm only looking to lose about 10lbs. Maybe I should up my calories. I thought about getting a heart rate monitor-I know I'm working hard because I sure sweat alot- haha. When running on the treadmill I'll do a variation of speed- I start off slow, then do a 10 minute sprint, go back down to a medium pace for 5 minutes, then another sprint and so on for about 30-40 minutes. My trainer said that is a good thing to do to make your heart work fast and then give it a break.0 -

I will try to eat a little more I think. I've been doing lots of fruit lately, and I drink water like a fish. haha. I think I emptied a whole bottle on our water cooler at work! But I'll eat more this week and exercise the same. Thanks for the advice and support!0 -

How are you consuming your 1200 calories? I'm new to this site but I've done WW before and was very successful at it. I was given 1300 calories to eat and I would spread it out over the day with multiple healthy meals and snacks. It was actually quite difficult to consume all 1300 because the way I spread it all out, I was eating once every 1.5-2 hours.
Do you do your running and weight training on different days? If so, you might try doing your weight training before your long runs. You'll be able to burn more calories that way.
Consult a trainer. You might just need to shock your system.0 -
The interval training is great...it aerboic and anaerobic exercise. Keeps you burning more calories even after you get done working out. I do it as well and I can tell a difference from how I was working out before. I would test upping your calories for about 5 days or so and see what happens. I burn about 800 - 1000 calories per day and consume around 1450. I wil up it a little more if I hit another plateau and see if that helps. Also, watch out for the beers and any alcohol...TONS of processed sugars. I had 2 this weekend just because I ran in the St. Patty's Day run but I wouldn't allow myself more than that. Also, if you aren't hungry for extra helping don't eat it just because it's the weekend. And if you're hungry...eat. If for some reason I'm having a day where I'm more hungry for whatever reason, I drink some tea and make sure I pack extra fruit or vegetables. I love cucumbers and they are low in calories. I went around saying I can eat a little of this and that and I kept gaining weight. I knew I had to call it quits with the messing around with my food. If I'm craving some mac and cheese, I get like a couple of bites worth and my cravings are gone because I know what I'm eating tastes yummy and I haven't overdone it with calories.0
