Smoothies for Meals

I bought a personal smoothie maker for myself and ever since then, I have become addicted to smoothies!!! I was eating it as a post-workout meal, but I realized the calorie count is high due to all the ingredients I add, so I have started eating it as more of a meal- my lunch. My sister made some mean comment that I need to eat real food- should I listen to her or is she just jealous of the success I am having with my weight loss?!! My smoothie is healthier and has more nutrients than anything else I would eat - I add greek yogurt, strawberries, banana, sometimes spinach, protein powder, and 1 tbsp of peanut butter. I comes out to be almost 400 calories, extremely high in protein, good source of carbs & fat. Seems like a perfectly balanced meal to me & so filling!! I eat real food for breakfast, snacks, and dinner, and I just love my smoothies midday!

I agree! Smothies are made with real food, they're just in a different form! And btw, that smoothie sounds delicous.
  • Looks like what you are putting in your smoothy is "real food". I wouldn't worry about what your sister says and just enjoy!

I think you're fine! Smoothies are real food as long as you know what's in them and yours sounds fabulous! Keep drinking them

I agree with the others:) Sounds delicious and I too do a smoothie most days, greek yogurt, blueberries, odwalla protein monster, adding pb sounds really good, my sons allergic to nuts so I cant mix that in our blender, cross contamination... but with the other ingredients thats a ton of protein and healthy fats AND carbs, a perfect blend:)
