I want to know what you've been eating! I am always amazed when people say they are satisfied on calorie levels that are below the level that I'm currently at because I am finding 1600 calories to be tough to stick to. I am doing it, and trying my best not to go over, but can you tell me what a typical dinner looks like for you? I am finding that my dinners consistently run about 800-1000 calories and I know that won't cut it when I get down to 1200 calories a day.0 -

WOW! My eating habits used to be a lot like yours. I tell ya though, once you start eating like you're supposed to, your body will start craving foods. I still have trouble eating all of my calories, but I'm doing much better now. I eat 5 or 6 times a day, and usually about the same time everyday. Now, especially at work (when it was always for me to eat), I find myself thinking about food just out of the blue and look up at the time...yep, time for me to eat something. The only meal I eat at home is dinner and sometimes a snack, depending on what time I get home. So the majority of my eating is during the day, at work.0

I strive for 200-300 calories per mini meal a day.... I don't find eating large meals anymore appealing nor does my body care for that. a mini meal example for me would be a carb/protein combo...say a small apple and 1 oz. of cheese in cubes....that sort of thing. Another example would be almonds and something carby/fruit most likely...before a workout. That way I'm getting in some fats with the nuts and some carb energy along with it for my workout.
Seems to work for me much better than when I used to strive for 3 meals a days. I don't seem to be able to put that much food away during one meal anymore...so the 5-6 meals a day has become a good fit for me...and wow, I'm never hungry, have such high energy and I know it keeps the blood sugars much more leveled out and the metabolism a movin and a groovin.
off to do some gym rat stuff! :drinker:0 -
YOu really gotta eat more! Now, don't be shocked but you will probably gain a bit at first--what you have done is probably put your body into "starvation mode." It is possible not to "feel hungry" and yet your body is literally starving for "fuel." Once you start giving your body enough "fuel," you will probably see a little gain. Then, it will level out as your body gets used to being properly fed again--then you'll start seeing losses.
AND, you need to make sure not to shoot for 1200 a day either--way too low for you. You can read more about all this on the posts linked below:

Ok, I am living proof that you can eat (and eat exercise calories) and lose weight steadily. I was nervous about it all too but I am convinced the reason I have done so well is because I keep my metabolism at a steady burn throughout the day with exercise, eating enough, eating good foods to fuel me and spreading the meals out.
Don't suffer!! Don't starve!!! That is an order!!!!!! :devil:0 -

Yep! I was like "OMG, what if I gain from eating the exercise cals?????" Or "I maintained!!!! ARGHH!".....
I definitely had to educate myself on it all to get to the point where I chilled out a bit. Phew!

ok.... i'm having the same problem! my old eating habbits use to be horrible! HORRIBLE!.....i use to eat no breakfast and no lunch and by dinner i was so hungry i had to stop for mc donalds or something else like that.... so i'm now on the verge of going into the overwieght scale of my BMI....i'm still not over wieght but sooo close . NOw i've joined here learn how horrible i was to myself. and this site told me thru its calulations that my calories intake should be 1200. so i changed all my habbits i'm eating breakfast lunch and dinner and snacks and stuff and i am able to eat 1200 calories but i was told if i excersice then i have to replace the calories so i still have 1200 calories in my body after.......i can't eat that much! i feel like all i'm doing is eating ALL DAY LONG! i'm tired of have to eat so much to get the excersice calories in there...what i'm i supposed to do....i don't like to eat like this and no i don't have a eating disorder...i just only want to eat when i'm hungry... anyways i cut out sooooo many bad things..ie. 3 huge glasses of coca cola a day and fast food 4 times a week r gone...and have been for three weeks...i've been eating the calories thru health foods now...i'm excersicing 5 times a week and there only been a loss of 3 pounds....i'm not giving up but i am fustrated....i'm tired of force feeding my self so much0
