If you want to lose weight faster, don't eat them. Instead, just eat your goal calories. One pound equals 3500 calories, so the more calories you burn, the more weight you will lose.

    Best of luck!

MFP is set up so that you're meant to eat your exercise calories, as they have already figured a deficit for you to lose weight at your desired rate of loss (assuming you set one) 1/2 lb, 1lb, 1 1/2 lb or 2 lbs a week. The caloric deficit is already there. Losing 1 or 2 lbs a week is a healthy sustainable rate of loss, losing more may not be as sustainable long term.

i hear both sides, that you should eat them and that you shouldnt. For right now I am only eating back about half of them, since I dont have a HRM and I;m not positive how many calories I am actually burning. Some days, like today, it was too hard for me to eat that much cuz I just wasnt hungry. I am averaging 2 pounds lost a week so I will stick with what I am doing for now! Good Luck!

I don't have a lot of faith in the calories burned calculations so I don't eat them. That also gives me an allowance for error in measuring, forgetting to record something, or guessing nutritionals when I'm in a hurry and the right one isn't in the database.
  • Personally I think you should because like people say, MFP already gives you a deficit before exercise. If I work out two hours one day and I don't eat more to compensate? I'm going to feel tired and brain dead. I can feel the loss of energy. It makes my day more difficult and in turn I make poor decisions. I'd rather eat my exercise calories and perform at my best all day, every day. It helps me more in the long run. I'm not in this to push my body and then not even have the decency to fuel it!
  • I eat them. I take birth control continuously and when I didn't eat them back I would break through nonstop. Couldn't have been good for my body if not eating them caused it to go that haywire (and I tested the theory a couple times!)

Eat part of them (maybe 70% depending on how many there are). That way your deficit isn't too large and you're able to continue this plan for as long as it takes to lose ALL of the weight you want to, and then to keep the weight off. There is already a deficit built in to MFP, follow it as it is designed and it will work for you.

Be aware that under reporting calories eaten and/or over reporting calories burned can totally throw off the deficit. Be precise and accurate.
